Car Problem

I have noticed now that when I drive with my air conditioner on, my cars RPM levels drop below 1K as if it were about to stall out. However, this only happens when I come to a stop or am stopped completly at a light. The RPM's just drop below 1K and then bounce back up over 1K and back under again until it finally stabilizes. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

well just like our s/c it takes power to make power, and the air conditioner is on the same belt just takes more power to run them both at the same time....just ask the gm dealer he might have to reflash the computer?.....that's my guess

There is a reflash for SS/SCs to "stabilize idle when ac is opperational", I know it's one that is applicable to my 2006, but I haven't found it necessary in my case. It may also apply to your 2005, check with your dealer.

My car constantly idles at 750, a/c or no a/c. I'd have it checked...

Mine is always at 750 too, unless I'm still moving in neutral, then like 1250.

I've had it happen to me maybe 2 or 3 times since I got the car. I know I can take it in for the reflash, but it doesn't happen enough for me to make that trip. Besides, I'll be getting stage 2 eventually anyway.

When you notice the idle start to do that, though, just give the gas a tap and it'll smooth out real quick.

I'll have to try this and see how it works. Thanks.

Make sure you just tap it, too. Like enough to rev it to 2k ish should be fine, or everyone's going to think you want to race them.

Well, I rarely run my A/C and ever since I got the car this happens every day.

I'll be running along at varying speeds, and when I come up to a light and stop..... the revs drop WAYYYY down below 500 and then up to about 1200, then bounce back and forth until they lever off @ 750... where it normally is.

I have heard that when people are getting the reflash for the stage kits, that this is something that goes away... but I have no idea if there's a general re-flash just for this.

Hey guys, sorry to rez an old thread, but is getting a reflash still the recommended fix?

I've got the exact same issue with my car (06 SS SC).

For me, though, it only happens every once in a while, like, say once every 100 times I'm idle at a light or so. As soon as I turn off the AC it immediately stabilizes.
