... a very short distance due to him being in the right and me in the left, and they split off about 100 yards down the road... we rolled out of the light, he gunned it, got the jump, i put the pedal to the floor... car kicked down to 1st.. then spun half way through 2nd as i walked past him... too bad i only got to the top of second... he looked a little surprised... as if to say "that damn cavalier just walked me"

I'm pretty partcial to GM, but GM has been keeping food on my table for years! My grandfather is retiring from GM in July
He works at the Lordstown plant, actually putting the cobalts together
He brought my car to the dealership! haha now that's cool

yah i saw the camaro and challenger at the auto show in pitt. when i saw the camaro at carlisle last year and they started it up i think i creamed in my pants, im sure the exhaust system on the camaro concept is highly emissions illegal but who cares lol.
So heres my predictions:
Base - 3.6L V6 260hp
SS - 6.0L V8 L76 365hp
Z/28 - 6.2L LS3 430hp
Besides i got a lil old saturn thatll do numbers on the local goats.
If i can stay away from the police...SPEAKING OF WHICH...BTW getting cuffed by the Flint Police is ftl...I went speeding by em (65ish in a 25) made the 2 turns to my house with extra quickness (no squealing tho) and pulled into my driveway (taking the branch off the one tree in teh yard with my mirror) (also i passed em 500 ft from my house) (there was no lights or sirens...even in my driveway). I shut off my lights early cause my passenger said to and took out half the tree in my lawn with the mirror on the ion (mirror is broken and it looks like no paint damage on the a pillar) From there they arrested me and hounded me saying that i ran from them (i never saw them my passenger did) and that I was lying to them (they were trying to get me to say i turned the lights off to run from em) (i did tell em i lost voltage and the hids turned off and that my passenger said to turn em off...so I did lie to them there and they caught me on it). Then after about 10 minutes in the back of the car they said were around here for ur security...and that they used to terrorize in their cars when they were young as well...then said dont lie to us btw. Then they un handcuffed me and let me go...I shook the cops hand and said u scared the **** out of me...I got PWNT by the local PD. IM kinda pissed about it now seeing that they got me good but at teh same time relieved i dont have to get my car out of impound...even tho they didnt get a chance to clock me and had absolutely nothing on me...pissed cause i let em **** with me when i should known they had nothing
Also..my roommate was mouthing off to them the entire time...hes been arrested a few times...LOL
Dan

The 69 SS came with either a 350, 396 or 427 - the later being super rare. Next up was the COPO 427 camaro and lastly the almighty god itself the ZL-1 Camaro.
Anyways, my dad used to have a 69 Z/28 so when i was young i was obsessed with them. Unfortunately, shes no longer with us
My guess will be:
Base = V6 - 240ish hp
Z/28 = LS2 - 380-400ish hp
SS = detuned LS6 or LS3 depending on which one is around - 470ish hp
I think you have that backwards. Atleast for 1969 which is what the new camaro is loosely based on. The Z/28 was developed to be an SSCA racer and had to abide by those rules. The 69 Z/28 came with only 1 engine IIRC, the 4.9 302. Power across the board was 290 (rated by GM) but were really more like 400 (giggidy). It mopped up in the Trans Am series races back then

Actually NO SS came from the factory with the 427. The COPO ( ZL-1 cars were actually considered in the COPO group ) cars were teh only way to get a 427 in the camaro, and they were all base model cars, with exception to some having vinyl rooves.
The 1st gen Z/28 cars ... from 67 t0 69 all had the 302, as well as all were sticks too. You had choices of carbs, and that was it. There was the sinlge 4 barrel and the "DZ" 302, which had the crossram intake with staggered twin 4 barrel carbs. ( Thinks 426 Hemis and max wedges )
As far sa the debate on trims and motors....
The LS2 is going to become a "base" motor for V8's. The G8, Trailblazer SS both use it and will for some time.
The LS2 in Camaro trim is rumored to have Active fuel management, so that will be a base model kinda point for the V8 trimmed cars.
IF ... BIG IF... there is more than 2 trim choices, and there's a Z, I agree, it will get the lesser V8, most likely the LS3. The SS will maybe get the LS7 ( which is rumored to be the BASE C7 motor ).
By the time the car comes out... much will have chnged globaly, so I wouldn't want to guess and put $$ on anything until 3 months before rollout.

The LS2 Will not be in the new Camaro. 2007 was the LS2's final production year. LS3 production has already began and the LS2 is a just a memory now.
The Camaro will either get an L76 (6.0 found in the G8 which has DoD) or it will get the 430hp LS3. The G8 is also getting the 362hp L76. No LS2 for either car, dead production motor.
I don't forsee a hand built LS7 going into any car sub $50,000 MSRP, since the motor alone is nearing $16,000. Good reason why the new CTS-V (2009) is rumored to be $60k+
LS6=no longer in production. 2005 was it's final year, when it was in the CTS-V. It was a carry over engine from 2004, when LS2 engine development was being ramped up and the V was a limited production. The V switched to the LS2 for 2006 and 2007.
LS2=no longer in production. I bet the mid model Camaro gets the L76 (6.0L 360hp or the LS3 (6.2L 430hp)
SS = we'll wait and see, if the mid model gets the L76 then I'll bet this will be an LS3 car. I doubt the bean counters at GM will drop in 500+hp monster engine for the Camaro. Especially since the LS7 is a $16,000 motor, and the concept LS9 motor looks to be reserved for the Corvette SS only.
Brian:
Little bit of specs on the L76 for you.
It's mainly used in Truck applications, but the G8 will be getting it.
6.0L V8 362hp. What's nice about it is, it has the famed L76 intake manifold, and the "L92" (6.2L heads) already on it.
Where it differs from the LS2 is, it has DoD technology already built in, and a much more mild cam shaft.
40hp down from a stock LS2, but swap it in with a nice cam, and it will make 30-35hp more than your standard LS2

I was looking from a price point, the old Z28s were more expensive than the SS's in Gen 1.

only real Hi Po V6 GM has in it's lineup is the 3.6L from the G6 GXP which is rated at 252hp. So I'd say with some exhaust work, itll be rated at 260hp.

Wasn't sure about the LS2's life beyond the Vette's applications. GOod point.
As an aside note....I"m not going to make PRP tonight. I'm tied up @ work until after 4, and then I'm going to do the brakes on the car ( rears... )
See you guys this weekend maybe...

We aren't going to be out either, Wes got stuck with a 9 hour shift and I'm done at 4, but I'm dead to the world basically. Damn cat's been keeping us both awake at night.
