Having driven all 3 when i worked at the dealership - i can say that Ford has the best package of diesel and trans. The GM package is close behind. You will not get the longevity out of the Powerstroke. Most are having problems waaaay before 100K. But it is the best IMO. I saw Powerstrokes with complete replacements with as low as 15K. But ive seen the dodge Cummins blow up as soon as it was driven off the lot . The Cummins in a dodge is of completely different architecture than that of industrial diesels. Most industrial Diesels for dump trucks and tractor trailers are in-line 6-8 cyls. Some of the cross country tractors have HUGE engines upwards of 14-16L+. Id never buy a dodge with a diesel in it - unless it had like a full bully dog setup....

The ISB is an inline 6, and somewhere on the net there are pictures of internals from all 3 diesels (PowerJoke, Duramax, and Cummins) side-by-side. The Cummins is by-far the beefiest of the 3. It is WAY over-engineered for a pickup-truck application. They do have known fuel-pump issues, but I haven't heard of too many 'blowing up'. I don't doubt that there are bad apples in the bunch, but I'm sure there are just as many D-max's and far more Powerstrokes that have **** the bed as well. As Tim and Dan said, the PSD is basically junk- it can't be rebuilt, you just throw it away and get a new one. I'm not sure on the D-max.

Let me just say that I'm probably the biggest die-hard Chevy fan in our group, but when it comes to a diesel I'd go Mopar- unless GM offers the Cummins in the future.

Within the past few years Volvo has now given the option to pick up their luxury trucks with Mercedes Benz diesel engines.

Yeah, they never lose... unless I'm driving it.

I didn't win many races ( only at the track, of course ), and I think Dan had him AND KAte in the car and I barely won.

Wait until I get drag radials!

ssadiction.... Welcome to the PA group. We have a wide range of ages, so hope you enjoy the car as much as we do.

We have guys a little older than you.... all the way up to some OLDER peeps in their mid 30's.

Autocross season is only 9 weeks or so away!!!!! whew!

Evo's are slow.

ssadiction, what's your name anyway? Gonna let you take my car out for a ride, it will change your mind on the GM Stage 2. Worked for everyone else, plus I want to hear your Hahn exhaust compared to the Vibrant.

I don't know if this has been brought up before, but does anyone want to chip in some cash and make up some decals? Since the Pittsburgh SS crew owns all, why not make up some decals? We could even make one that says "Pittsburgh SS Crew > All". lol. Or "Pittsburgh Area Cobalt SS's" or some ****. That way we'll look like tough guys and people will know we're not messin' around.

: P

Or as Dane Cook says, we'll be some serious BAMF's. Bad Ass ***** *******.

: D

And also, a HUGE Pittsburgh area SS meet in the spring FTW!
