And as for tuning, TCM controls the transmission as alley said. We tuned mine last summer (mostly djt81185). It dropped a few tenths off the 1/4 mile time and is much stronger. Shifting like it does now puts less strain on the trans as well. It's definitely something that needs to be done if you plan on going turbo (as well as a trans cooler) unless you want to replace the transmission.

Personally, I'd let djt81185 tune the car. Considering he's been tuning for years, knows HPT inside and out, has tuned countless Cobalts and Ions (and consistently gets great results), and is about to graduate from Kettering U with an engineering degree... I'd bank on that being the smart choice.

Or if you really want, you can pay the cheaper price to people like Hustler and Pimplay who are new to the software and tuning on these cars (and possibly tuning in general).

Not sure what to say about getting the car inpsected. That's the risk you run when you mod a car and it's not "legal".

I don't know any 'easy' places to get things done like that. I've never had to think about it.

Mine's actually legal, I just have to find a time when the temperature is stable enough to get the CEL off and right now it won't pass because of the missing sway bar link.
