Grandfather is in the hospital.

Can't remember if I posted on here about it or not. He went to the doctor for a checkup at the end of August (we thought he had Alzheimer's), they admitted him to the hospital for CT scans, transferred him to AGH. He had a golf-ball sized tumor removed. During recovery before he woke up he had a massive stroke. So that's been the past month of my life. He was in the Neuro ICU at AGH from the 28th of August until the 25th of September, now he's in LifeCare at Wilkinsburg until October 12th, then I'm moving him to a rehab center.

This is when it sucks to be the only child of an only child that lives 1400 miles away.

I knew you mentioned about helping with your grandparents, but that was maybe before all this happened.

 

Damn Alicia, sorry to hear that, hope all works out well for him.

Doing alright. When it first happened I moved to Scottdale for about 2 weeks and that just wasn't working out with the drive to/from work.

I'm back home now and I go down sometimes once during the week, and then I stay down there on the weekends and drive my grandma back and forth to see him. I get a little help from my mom, she's been trying to come up once a month to give me a breather.

Things are going well. He's getting some rehab where he's at now and will be getting more shortly. He has no paralysis and is speaking to us, his memory has dramatically improved after the tumor removal. He's sitting on his own and they've been trying to stand him up, but it hasn't been going so well. The last hurdle he has is his trach tube. They're going to work with him on that at the other rehab place and get it gone. Once that's gone and he completes his rehab there, he'll be well enough to go home and we can care for him there.

He talks CONSTANTLY, he's hard to hear/understand with the trach tube in but he still prefers talking.

I think he'll be fine overall. Like I said, he's talking and has no paralysis. He won't make a full recovery by any means, but as long as he can talk and feed himself and stuff, that's all we're really worried about. He's actually not supposed to be able to talk with the tube he has in, but he figured out how to. He can also throw things I pity the staff who found that out. I guess they kept his room too hot AND insisted on covering him up with a blanket, so he figured out a way to roll up the blanket (he has boxing-glove mitts on because he also knows how to pull out his IVs and such) into a ball and throw it across the room.

That and I guess they turned the Steelers game on for him Monday, so last night he was bitching about how bad they sucked in the first half.

 

Well... It will be around... maybe one night we can meet up for food and I'll bring it.

Hope to get some wax on it Saturday and make it pretty....lol

I wiped it down ( was asked if I planned on washing it every day ) yesterday and sprayed some quick detail on it, and it really needs clay barred to get some grime/oxidation off and it shuold be peachy after that.

I had it out the past two nights... but need to get in the garage and make room and such...

So... the next two nights are for that.
