Yeah, it's basically the same thing as methanol. You should be able to find it at Home Depot with the wood/paint supplies. Not sure how much it costs/how safe it is/etc.

It'll probably be sold as "wood alcohol" or shellac remover. I cannot speak for its safety for automotive use, but I know it's REALLY nasty ****.

So who's all down to meet up before Starlite if the rain holds out? We are meeting at about 5:30 or so at the Sheets across the street. I just want to make sure we don't leave to head over without everyone being there who wants to come. I know I'll be there and Frew said he will be there. Anyone else?

Just as a side note - not sure how thing are now with environment regs and such, but just triple check any packaging to make sure they haven't added any other ingredients to it. Historically "wood alcohol" has simply been methyl alcohol in a different label. "Denatured alcohol" is sometimes sold now as a similar product, but it is NOT methyl alcohol.

Frew, it's really weird you mentioned that now. 3 months ago when I was going through my grandfather's things I had to dispose of probably 20 cans of this - God only knows of what mixture or age. I just know it's nasty stuff - causes skin damage, respritory problems, and long-term exposure can cause liver disease......so it must be good **** .
