ok good deal, thanks for the info. ******* me, instead of bothering you, i coulda just googled the info from the start, which i did just now and realized i need a helmet, so i won't be running (never did autox before). im gonna try to stop out and at least check things out though, weather pending of course.
think ill pick up a helmet over the coming weeks though so i can give this thing a shot. think its doable in a 2.4 auto?

Yup. This blows. You know what it is? I was planning on doing a full top-to-bottom detail on my car between Friday and Saturday and I also figured first weekend of April, bout time to get those summer wheels out. Nope. Mother Nature had a big "**** you" for that plan.
They usually have 1 or 2 loaner helmets. All you need is a Snell M2000 or newer helmet (I'd buy M2005 or M2010 helmet if it were me). If you plan on doing laps at BeaveRun, go all out an get an SA helmet.

since we have so many cobalt guys in the area and this is where i started i figured i'd let you guys know that i'm thinking about purchasing a dyno for my shop. If this goes through as scheduled I will hold many dyno days for all makes of cars. Only 2wd though.
Mine just came off the rollers about 20 minutes ago. Wes and Al went on a date this morning.
Everyone always used to say any more than 25* was just a waste of rod bearings on a LSJ, what do you think about that? You feel than more timing would make more power, and still be reliable 'enough'?
Those are some nice looking numbers for so many stock parts! Good build.
It's only bad on the bearings if it's knocking. I have yet to see a single hit of it since I went E85.
I run the amount I do at peak so I can have an overall better map/curve, just happens to be how it worked out. Could careless about the peak number on dyno, it's the curve I wanted to see and it's awesome. Perfect for the track.
This is Area47's timing map too, BTW. Not taking credit for it.

Good point. I would say I agree. Tuning on a dyno and being able to see the curve broaden is a solid indicator of the extra performance.
Any future plans to swap for some more aftermarket parts? If you're getting cooled enough, not much need there, however some exhaust flow may help. All depends though, if you're flowing enough now, you'd need some headwork to see much of a gain.
I can't recall, but something tells me the car might already have a ported head? Am I dreaming that you posted about that before lol?

No, the head on the car is stock. Stock long block.
I am pretty much done with the Cobalt, unless I get stuck at 12.0s and 12.1s, and I need a push into the 11s. Woman can buy parts as she pleases, her car technically.

Well that is even more impressive then! A ported head and springs could bump that up a bit better. Exhaust mods may or may not help.
Ya, I'd be pretty happy with 340whp lol.
Wouldn't mind a ported head. Used to want cams, but now I'm kinda meh on that one. Exhaust I've always been meh on. I like what's on there, and good exhaust systems (header/catback) are so freakin expensive, I don't know whether the gains-to-cost would make it worthwhile.
At this point it needs suspension. Even with slicks, I have heck of a time hooking up.
Probably going to get straps for front end, and air bags for rear. That way it's all just used on track days, and woman can have her unmolested suspension for whatever she wants it for.

True, exhaust may be mostly sound on your setup. A header may give some gains over a stock manifold though as it does a pretty good job on an otherwise stock car. Something to think about for the future if you're planning on keeping the car for a good while longer.
Me, I'm glad I got outta the car when I did, it was starting to cost me too much money as I always wanted something else for it lol.

Considering it's an open-diff car at the moment, 340 (he said specifically 338) at a real race track is going to mean a whole new learning curve for throttle control. I was spinning the inside wheel through 6 and 7 when all I had was an intake and exhaust. The front and back stretches should get a little more fun though.
Yeah, I already got **** from my friends for having a "straight line queen." I HAVE a limited slip diff sitting in my garage, it's just a bitch trying to get it installed. That and I kinda don't want to crack open a transmission that's been bulletproof for so long. I'd rather pick up a used F35 and put the diff in that, and have my stocker for backup if something goes wrong.
