Hey Chris the Air Force is hiring. When do you want to hook up to log the Balt ? It looks like a lot of rain all weekend so I wont be doing anything. My clutch master cylinder is on national back order through GM. I ordered the last one off of Precision and might it be here tomorrow but Im not counting on it.

Yup. So I am applying to EVERYTHING that I see posted. Everything that I could concievably maybe possibly stand a shot in hell of getting, even if I'm not 100% suited to the position. I haven't done my rounds on job sites this morning, but once I do I hope I'm up around 65 applications out. I've gotten 2 interviews. No one here has even returned my phone call.

My x wife lost her job and got fucked around by unemployment for several months. In the meantime she finally found another job and got a lawyer who took her case on consignment. After that she got a nice check minus %20 the lawyer got. Plus their sueing the former employer in federal court

I was unemployed for about 4 months at the end of 2009. I have two degrees (Bachelor, Master) and it is definately hard without some real-life work under your belt. I found you have to concentrate on one area and work your a** off. You have to have a do whatever it takes attitude. At one point I had 4 part-time jobs at once and interviewing as well. I would tell everyone and anyone who would listen what I am looking for in a job.

For a little while I was working for free at one job while supporting myself with 3 others. The free one actually turned into a "paid" 40 hr a week job for me. You have to be willing to do what others don't.

Yeah, my ex-neighbor was suggesting a lawyer, but it's hard to find one when you have no means right now to pay them.

Yup, I have a Bachelor's right now with some Master's courses completed, but I was never able to finish the degree. That's pretty much what I've done, I've worked in one area for the past 6 years, doing anything and everything I could to get more experience. But that's kind of dug me a bit of a hole because now no one wants the experience I have, they want other experience. I've been calling all of my former employers and contacts to let them know I'm looking for a job and I've got as many sets of eyes and ears out as possible.

I have to be careful about how many jobs I take and what the time commitments are. I used to be able to work anytime, anywhere, and fit everything else around that work schedule. But now I'm in a situation where I'm a primary caregiver for my grandmother, so I have to have something that works with my schedule with her. What makes it tricky is that it's a 3 hour round trip every time I have to go, so I need to have one full day a week free to go take care of what I need to take care of with her.

The thing that's making me mad about my current employer is that I'm on their job site EVERY DAY looking for jobs and I'm in contact with the HR people multiple times a day. I've found 7 jobs that I could do, and that I'm really OVERqualified for. Every time I apply and send them along to my recruiter he shoots them down or flat out refuses to route my application to the hiring manager saying I should really "stick with" the department I'm in now. Well, that's fine, BUT THEY HAVE NO JOBS. So why can't I transfer to something else so long as I have met the requirements to do the job?

In order to get unemployment, I have to be "able and available" for suitable work......shouldn't the same hold true for them, I'm able and available, and they're not even willing to look at my application.

I cant get in the military, and I have yet to see anything for civilian jobs with the AF. Trying to get an application in at the NADEP Depot.

If the weather isnt terrable, perhaps tomorrow afternoon? I was gonna race at BeaveRun Saturday, but i dont trust my street tires in teh rain.

Also, anyone know of places to get good deals on compressors? Looking for around a 30 gallon air compressor to replace the one i have been borrowing.

Why don't you trust your street tires in the rain? People will be running on Hoosiers, I think your streets will be fine.

The Sumo's on their now.. the backs are getting smooth, and they kinda suck in the rain. Had my new tires gotten here, it wouldn't be an issue.

The weather report for tomorrow is terrible .Up to 1 inch of FN rain. We are double the normal amount of rain for April. I cant stand it.

That's what gets to me... I long ago lost count of how many jobs I've applied for, and in 2 years I have had exactly TWO interviews, neither of which (obviously) resulted in an offer. Everybody says "just keep at it", but that's easier said than done.

Yup, I'm just applying to everything, even if I don't qualify. Hopefully SOMETHING turns up. My last employer actually just posted a position, so I applied for it. Figure I might have a leg up since I know their research and their systems and the PIs and everything. Figure it might give me an advantage. It's a slight pay cut, but I know what I'm getting into over there. I liked working there before they got their funding cut, so I wouldn't mind going back.

I saw that. If only he could have made it to the shooting that happened and stopped it, then he would have gained epic ninja superhero status in the trailer park.

Paint

So I was inquiring if any of you do paint work or know someone who does and has a reputable shop. I am looking to get my front bumper and maybe my hood repainted. I can't stand the chips anymore.

Thanks
