Pittsburgh Crew < You
does anyone know if u have to get your car emission and inspection tested in the county that you live in? im buying an s2k that is on aem ems and it wont pass in my county but i know a guy from monroeville who will do the old lick and sticks for me.
Yeah, confused by the whole dealer thing. You just buy the suite from their website or something. Sound more like you're looking for a tuner though.
No you do not. My car is registered in Westmoreland County, and I've ALWAYS had the emissions done in Allegheny County, never had a problem. It's a state-wide standard emissions test, so there's no variation county-to-county. The only time county matters is determining whether or not emissions is required.

No I don't know of any. We might be thinking of the same one in Monroeville, there used to be one over by Boyce Park, but they got busted a few years back, so I don't even know if they are still an inspection station. Kinda wish I did would be a lot easier to throw a few bucks at someone rather than swapping downpipes every time inspection rolls around, LOL.
I see. I respect that. still looking for someone who could teach the basics. I'm trying to learn from reading on the hp tuners forum site. I hope to get the software in the next month or so. I'm a 3rd year mechanical engineering student and I feel like some of the things I wouldn't be able to learn unless some one taught me. I know you don't learn in a day which is why I've been reading everything I can, but I don't want to pay 500 for a book on just how to do it and still not be exactly sure. I wouldn't mind some hands on training, or just someone giving me an overview.
LSJ is by far the easiest car to tune. A monkey could do it, half the users on this website that tune their cars are proof of that. Most of it is because HPT has so many missing tables, only so much you can change.
Anyone who says they are a god at tuning Cobalts is just over-glorifying themselves. It's nothing hard.
Good starter car to get basic knowledge.
