Im selling my HPtuners Software

A mechanic wants to buy my Pro Version software. It already has the credit for 2005 and 2006 Cobalt's.

its really hard to say once you do that...
because technically if you have no credits, the software is only worth about 300 bucks.

it all depends on what the unlocked cars are worth to the buyer.

if he wants it for his GM truck? useless.
if he owns an 05 or 06 cobalt, and has friends with others? could get maybe $450-500

just thinkin outloud here.

I thought the credits were assigned per vehicle, not per vehicle model/year?

350 is kind of cheap if you unlocked stuff he needs. Tell him 400. Then you both won't be out to much cash and you both will still get a good deal.

you have the ability to buy the crdits to unlock the whole year, it is much easiers for shops that way and more cost effective

so you spent 12 credits unlocking ALL of the 05/06 cobalts?

if so and he wants to tune cobalts, thats $600 worth of credits he is going to be using. I wouldn't sell it for less than the cost of those credits and just say you're giving him the hardware/software for free.

don't underestimate the cost of those credits, they aren't cheap. and if he is going to be using them, then charge him for that!

Well that and he says he has enough to do 1 more vehicle so thats another $100 in credits.

So you figure $250 for hardware/software and $700 in credits, so $950 total spent. I would say $600 is a good deal.

But that is if he really unlocked all of the 05s and 06s which would be 12 credits.

No i dont have anything more that what come with the kit. I bought the Pro version. And i unlocked enough to do a 05 cobalt SS and a 06 Cobalt SS. And i have enough for 1 random vehicle. I didnt pay over $600 for the total kit.

So you haven't unlocked all the 05s and 06s, just a single 05 car and a single 06 car which will be useless to the buyer.

You should have got 8 credits with the initial purchase, and unlocking 2 cars is only 4 credits, so you should have enough for 2 cars left, unless I'm missing something?

If you have 4 credits left I would still say you should be able to sell it for $400 or so.

Credits is what makes it the most value. If this gentleman indeed is using it for tuning SS/SC Cobalts then it's worth the cost. Considering it costs $600-700 for the full suite it's worth it.

But he won't be able to use what you have unlocked on other cobalts, just the VIN numbers for the 2 cars you unlocked.

1 Cobalt = 2 credits = $100
All Cobalts (per year) = 6 credits. = $300

If you haven't bought any extra credits than you haven't unlocked all the Cobalts, just the 2 cars that you have used it on.

That is a HUGE difference. Make sure you understand this before you sell.
