How did the injector break? Was it due to increased rail pressure?

 

Not likely, I had a misfire on #3 under load, found no mechanical/electrical cause. Ring lands & valves, coilpacks & plugs all ok. Went to swap the injector on #3 and found it had no teflon seal. Compression has always been lower on mine on #3 until today. Now they are all 165-167. I think it was left out upon assembly but the blowby for all the miles looks like it may be cooked. I wouldn't trust it but it's probably fine also. I had purchased the entire injector assembly, rail & all so I swapped 'em out today.

 

I take it that #3 is the black one?

 

Yes it is! I'm scrapping that one even though it's probably fine.

 

One injector left... bump for it and the rail.

 

How much is one of those worth with 4 good injectors ?

 

Injectors new range from $225 to $275, last time I checked they were on national backorder from GM.

IDK about the rail, never priced it separately. I found 4 injectors, rail et al so I jumped on it before I found my issue was just the missing seal on #3. Installed the new lot since I purchased it complete. Mine was $700 surplus. You'll have to shop around.

The rail I'm selling held 2800 psi fuel pressure fine for months. If someone wants to risk #3 is still fine, (prob is) I'll throw it in with another injector purchased for free.

 

Wow. I guess I better keep my spare. It was given to me with a head I bought for $250 off a 2009 SS TC that was wrecked
