Tried taking photos of the stars last night. They all sucked ass. Something that probably shouldn't be done by Crop Sensor cameras. The Full Frame Sensor cameras can take pics with longer exposures before showing streaks (the movement of the Earth in relation to the stars/planets).
This is the only one that was even close to halfway decent.

Then tried working on my "people" shots. I never seem to like my shots of someone, versus shots of something (buildings, cars, etc). The settings are the hardest thing for me... most of it I'm just playing with to see what has what affect on the photo. These were all with my 50/1.4.

I think part of my problem was not adjusting the WB as I moved around the scene (sun behind me, sun in-front of me, etc). That seemed to throw some of the coloring off a little bit.

@ USMCFieldMP - If you leave your WB on auto you'll be fine; maybe a little exposure compensation to help; otherwise the only things wrong with your photos [the coloring looks fine] is that the subject doesn't have the best expression on her face. I can tell she had the sun bothering her from the way she is squinting in one of them. Obviously the sign "Not Available" gives meaning to the shot, perhaps next time have her work a different pose and expression, perhaps leaning against the wall looking down or a rear shot of her leaning against the wall looking over her should, away from the sun.
not my picture but very telling. This man won the spanish Grand Prix F1 race and carried his little cousin out of a burning building the same day. my new favorite to win the austin F1 race.

I bet you laughed at your own joke for saying that, this is a photography thread, not a pictures of Cobalt thread, this is a thread where you post your own pictures, not some you found on the internet and thought it was cool. I said I wasn't trying to sound like a dick, and you blew it up anyways.

This. It's a great story, but this isn't the thread for it.
Been wanting to get a camera for a while now, and I finally got one today. Have no clue what I'm doing
It rained all day to day too so I was just shooting random stuff in my house.

Congrats on the pick up. What did you get?
Yeah it took me a while to figure out how to make it stop...just shutting it, who'd of thought. And I just got a D3100 starting off, didn't want anything too fancy seeing as how I'm a beginner.
