2012 Official Photography Thread.
It takes practice that's for sure. Using the in camera flash is great when there's already decent amount of light and you are just using it as a bit of a fill in. Like when the sun is behind the aubject. But if your in a dark place an external is a must. Flashing a wall or ceiling instead of the subject produces great lighting and its fun to play with for all the different t effects you can make.
Drove 15 minutes out to the middle of nowhere to try and get some photos of the Milky Way and of the ISS passing overhead. Missed the ISS, but I got so see it yesterday morning, so it's NBD. Once there, I realized I forgot one of the most important pieces... the camera base for my stand. Le Sigh. Improvised by just setting the camera on top of the car.
Didn't get one good shot, though. The shots that COULD have been good, were ruined by the crappy stock lens that apparently doesn't have an Infinity Focus setting. Switched out to a better lens, but it was too late... as the light from the coming sunrise started to drown out the view. I need to pick up a lens with a really short Focal Length for this though. Like really low teens - maybe a fish-eye. Either way... the view was spectacular. You can barely make out the Milky Way in these crappy shots. Better luck next week, I suppose.

So I went out and tried the photography at night. Wasn't expecting too much, but how do I not make it have such an orange tint? I edited these on the computer after some, but the originals all have an orange tint. I was messing around with different shutter speeds mostly. And any other tips in general?

Started out a lil overcast, but then the sun came out around 1ish...it was nice and quiet too. It's a smaller beach that's more difficult to get to, if you swim around the rocks there's a cool underwater cave too.
damnit always see great picture ops on my drive home when i don't have my camera... saw a bald eagle perched on a pile of rocks that had been eroded. the sun was setting and the water was drained from the man made lake. it would have been mint
