What you are describing isn't a product of your Mac book... it's a product of Windows being a primary target toward hackers and virus writers.
I can buy a PC based unit that is twice as powerful as a Mac book, for half the price... and run the same software on it.

good luck finding a PC that can do that
There are plenty....get off the fanboi bus.... If you aren't lazy and actually pay attention to what you do when your on a computer, it can very appealing. And BTW do you know why you haven't defragged your HDD?

As a matter of fact, I am running Mac OS X on my PC at work. A dell optiplex 745 with Hackintosh OS X 10.5.8.

*facepalm*

You don't put OSX on windows... you put OSX on a PC.
And you would do that, if you're the kind of person who likes OSX, but refuses to pay for Apples overpriced Junkbook.

Please take a minute and review the difference between hardware and software.

That's a fairly decent combo.
I ran that same thing at home for a few months last year.

I'm not saying a custom built computer with OSX on it wouldn't be better, just saying that some people (like me) prefer to just turn something on, and use it. My Mac does that. My windows based Netbook did for the first week. All i used it for was tuning and notes in class. Somehow it's managed to slow down, and now that the norton trial has expired, it keeps popping up, and it drives me insane.

Well, I guess it is all about user convenience.
But, I'm not willing to pay a $1000 premium to simply 'turn it on'.

To each their own, though.

I would rather not either, but 4 years ago when i bought my Macbook, it did a lot of things PC's did not, and although the price was a little more, it was worth it to me because i do not have the time or interest to search and search and build my own computer. I hate electronics.

I browse the internet, e-mail, and word process. that is the extent of my computer usage.

i am aware of the difference between hardware and software.

and i am more than aware that you can buy a pc that is more powerful than a mac. but after a while its gonna go to **** and you will have to buy a new one. repeat that process a couple of times and you will have spent more money on pc products than you have on a mac.

but the reason why macs are so much more go way beyond the software. stuff like the huge multi touch trackpad made of etched glass, backlit keyboard, blue tooth, a SOILD unibody made of aluminum. (unlike the swueaky plastic **** that pc laptops are made of.

but im done debating on apple vs. pc. apparently you like pc, and if that what make you happy, then kudos man.

I must have missed that part earlier.... 4 years ago, information and tools for OSX+PC wasn't as readily available as it was, say, 2 years ago.
It's a different game now that Mac is playing nice with Intel.

Did you even read my post, or are you just arguing to argue?

You know that they make military grade PC's cheaper than most Macbooks, right? Are those 'cheap' and 'flimsy'?
When you talk about a PC, you need to realize that your Macbook uses the 90% of the same parts as a comparable PC.... screen, touchpad, processor, etc, etc, etc. It's just a piece of electronics that Apple charges out the ass for, cause it's 'OSX approved'.

And it's not that I 'like a PC'... it's that I don't like overpaying for some hyped up garbage, running a proprietary piece of software.

See, this is silly.

I prefer my Mac because of it's user interface.

I don't have the kind of knowledge to transfer this operating system onto a PC.

So, i bought the Mac. Hardware specs mean nothing to me.

Its the software that makes the real difference, and i prefer the Mac hands down.

Not knocking PC's because they are fantastic. I just prefer OSX.

This is the prime example of the ONLY people that should buy a Mac.

Alright you need to shut it. You only make yourself look stupid every time you post.

All that comes out is that you are too stupid to use a computer as it was intended.

Adobe CS5 is faster and better on PC. Why? Because it's 64bit and has more compatible graphics acceleration because there are more video cards available on PC.

Just because you think it's necessary to run Norton on a netbook, isn't the netbooks fault. You don't need anti-virus on a netbook if all you do is web browsing and tuning.

Learn to use a computer and then we will listen.

I'm not being a jerk just stating the obvious.

I never said it was necessary to run norton, only that it came with a trial subscription and that it's annoying. I'm simply stating that i don't feel the need for any kind of outrageous processing speed. I'm not too stupid to use a computer, i'm simply not interested in delving deeper into it.

I don't use photoshop. I don't edit music or videos (which mac does have EXCELLENT software for) and i don't play games.

I'm not knocking PC or windows, just stating why i like Mac better. No need to be so uptight about it.

So you use a MAC just like a basic PC is what you are saying.

P.S. MAC and PC generally have the same software. Show me something on MAC that does music and video editing and I'll show you something on PC that is better quality and faster.

The old perception of better graphics and editing on MAC is dead. The price premium is now only for the backlit keyboards and nice cases. That's it.
