Here are some photos, I know they weren't taken in 2009 but I thought they were nice and wanted your opinions. If you would like me to remove them, I can.

You are correct... Toronto Zoo! It is a really nice place if no one has been.

Did you just delete your last post cobaltBlackss? Those pics were taken with a Canon SD450 P&S. Didn't have access to an SLR at the time

yeah they no doubt are....it was a little tough to get enough lighting cause i was shooting like shutter 20 or 30 which was underexposing it...but she likes to move...A LOT! so i couldn't really shoot any less or the shots would have been useless lol so i took underexposing over blur lol i can however go into photoshop and fix them cause they were shot in raw...just didn't have the time lastnight and wanted to share thank you for the compliment

Someone will correct me if one of those cameras really does have a true optical viewfinder. And Titanium, by definition an SLR has to have a lens, a flip-up reflex mirror and a pentaprism viewfinder (some early ones back in the 1930s just had a focusing screen; the image was backwards!). An SLR is composed and focused through the lens, unlike a rangefinder or a twin-lens reflex. That is the definition of an SLR. Having interchangeable lenses isn't part of the definition, although most SLRs do (B&H incorrectly puts the Leica rangefinders in the "SLR" section of their website, and although they do have interchangeable lenses, they lack the reflex mirror and viewfinder that would make them SLRs). There used to be some cheap film SLRs (Olympus comes to mind) where the lenses weren't removeable.

Someone needs to post some pics rather than continue this pointless debating of semantics.
you don't 'need' a pentaprism viewfinder it can be live view as well

lens flare is fine if you use it creatively such as with the wing but you should attempt to post process the image so there is a better balance across the image.

try to see if your camera has a slow flash option ... it will allow you to keep the color of the tank and won't look like a blast of light but be careful cus your shutter speed will not increase past what the camera is metered to.

Slow flashes are normally used for creative shots an example would be an image of a car at night where you can see the outline of the car but it looks like a ghost and there is a light trail. Slow flash (curtain2 if you have the option) will also flash at the end of the image using the car as an example again you see this long trail of light coming to you then the flash and all of a sudden you also see the car in full detail plus the light trail coming to you.

I don't think the images look bad underexposed though, it seems to give off a warm soft feeling to the images which is easy to look at without immediate focus on any particular detail in the image.

thanks onimirage. and ya my settings for that one was iso 200 with an auto white balance. all the other settings don't really deal with the processing of the image. there is an option on the camera's flash called superflash mode where it takes a small flash, process' and then another flash and then stores the image. there is also a mode on it that allows me to hold the trigger button down and it will take multiple images over a period. now when i do this mode some times there is a second inbetween pictures and other times it is click, click, click almost immediately.

i love this camera but would really like to try my hand at a slr camera. hell it took me a year to realize that if i wanted to take crisp up close pictures without using zoom just to put it to the flower option and it allows me to get up really close and get nice crisp images. that and i hate using zoom with a passion.

You should experiment with your cameras white balance more or if it has a custom white balance option try getting a grey balance or white balance card ... literally just an 18% grey card or a pure white paper will do I bought a nice large white art poster that I use for white balance. It even works on my ol prosumer camera.

Your talking about continuous drive mode, modes like this will allow the camera to take images one after the other as long as the camera has the buffer to do it and fast enough memory to write to. The speed depends on the cameras abilities and memory abilities as far as maximum amount of images and how fast it can take those images. The other thing that determines speed would be the shutter, the slower the shutter speed the longer it has to stay open no matter how fast the cameras abilities are

zoom lens' are nice and all and some are incredible but nothing is better than being right where the action is up close and personal

hmm i'll have to do that. this camera is also really picky about the slightest movement. i have to go and get a tripod one of these days lol. but i will definetly try to screw around with the white balance as you suggested onimirage. i love this camera and the price was awesome $400 down to $25. going out of business sales are awesome when its the last product and they really want to get rid of it lol. any other suggestions. theirs a bunch of writing on the lens casing that to be honest i have no idea what they mean.

Got bored.

I know it's "not leveled", I went with that look illustrate my girlfriend, sliding out of the picture in the mid/background.

Just a snapshot type picture. It looked like an eerie/dark and mysterious tree lol

This building was blocked off but I would've liked to go inside. I didn't want to chance it though since it's by Leavenworth prison and escapees sometimes hide out in there, so I didn't feel like getting stabbed lol.

It's getting warmer, I can't wait to actually venture outside for some good pictures.

Ok guys here are some pics from the car show tonight. Don't be too rough on me. Some of these I had to rush on because little kids kept jumpin in front of me when I was taking the pics so that may not be the greatest and some of the displays had funky lighting which messed things up a bit too. Well let me know what you think...

There ya go. Hopefully you all can see a bit of improvement from when I first started posting here. I've been working on it and trying to apply the tips you all have given me. Thanks again!

the writing is likely just the min and max lens abilities focal lengths and apertures are usually the only things written there other than brand specific extras if any.
