06 SS/SC detonation/predetonation?!

Let me start off by saying I recently got this car on cheap because I helped the guy who was rebuilding the engine find parts and somewhat put the car back together. First issues when I finally took ownership of the car. P0017, wouldn’t boost over 4-5 psi, and all around really shitty stock suspension. Anyway engine went down originally due to timing chain guide breaking. The whole engine was rebuilt top to bottom. Aftermarket upgrades include 3” pulley, possibly 42# injectors, I need to investigate that, k&n typhoon intake, and catback exhaust (stock header and downpipe still)

I aligned the cam sensor housing properly and that addressed the P0017 issue. Some vacuum lines to the boost solenoid were routed wrong and that addressed the low boost issue. Now it has plenty of power, but in the higher RPMs it seems to break up. Crackle and pop and basically lose power. First thing I did was pull the plugs. They all look the same, but I’m wondering if the plugs should be a step colder considering the mods, and if that would even cause the problems I’m having. Also need to mention that no CELs are triggering. Sorry for the long post, I just really would like to figure this out so I can actually DRIVE the car. Thanks!

I think once you go below stock pulley it's a good idea to run one step colder plugs. Also, what do you have them gapped at? You could be experiencing spark blowout as well.

dont really need colder plugs for anything the m62 can put out.

ZZP stage 2 kit includes new plugs gapped to .035

(4) NGK 4644 Spark Plugs (.035 gap)

try that
