2007 Supercharged Overheating
ive never had stock cooling fan settings, i hp tuned mine the night I got it, but I can tell you that its never been above 215 even in 90 degree heat idling for a half hour
potential water pump issue?
potential water pump issue?
nope never comes on.. the first time i noticed it i was just running thro to see the oil life.. and happened to see a high number, called a friend and had him look up the temp for "overheating" on my car and he said anything over 210.
your friend is wrong... 210 is well withing what's considered normal operating temperature.
I constantly watch my coolant temps on the dic. Since the cold weather has arrived, whenever the heat is on, especially full blast, the coolant temps will rise faster than when no heater was on. At stop lights it will jump from 190 up to 200-205 within 20-30seconds. If I pull up to the light and turn the heat completely off, it takes MUCH longer to heat up the coolant temps to the same range. If I let it creep up above 200 and turn off the heat and quickly turn to cold air, not ac, temps will drop a few degrees and usually hold steady til I get moving again when they drop quickly. Not sure if anyone else has seen this, but just my experience. This is on a 2.4sc btw.
The PCM commands Low Speed Fans ON under the following conditions:
Engine coolant temperature (ECT) exceeds approximately 106°C (223°F).
A/C refrigerant pressure exceeds 1 310 kPa (190 psi).
After the vehicle is shut off, the ECT at key-off is greater than 140°C (284°F) and system voltage is more than 12 volts. The fans will stay on for approximately 3 minutes.
The PCM commands High Speed Fans ON under the following conditions:
ECT reaches 110°C (230°F).
A/C refrigerant pressure exceeds 1 655 kPa (240 psi).
When certain DTCs set
When the request for fan activation is withdrawn, the fan may not turn OFF until the ignition switch is moved to the OFF position or the vehicle speed exceeds approximately 10 mph. This is to prevent a fan from cycling ON and OFF excessively at idle.

As you can see from this post earlier in the thread; it is perfectly normal to see tempuratures around 230 while sitting in traffic. The fans don't kick on to high speed until 230. If you are seeing 240 I might be a little concerned. If it is getting to 240 pretty fast then there maybe something going on. You should have to be in stop and go traffic for quite a few minutes before the tempurature climbs to 230 especially in cooler weather.
