So my daughter has a 08 Cobalt that we think she has thrown the timing chain on. She had called me and said it was making a noise under the air box, before I could look at it she was on the freeway and the motor started shaking very bad so she pulled over and cut it off. I've got it home just have not dug into it yet, I'm sure it bent the valves. My question is what year models head will hit? I have seen where only 07- 08 others say all before 09. Once I know what I'm looking at after tear down I want to get parts ordered. I just want to make sure I know what will work.Thanks for the help

 

From my understanding the '07 and '08 heads should work. '09 and '10 are the LAP which is different due to VVT. '05 and '06 L61 heads are slightly different and don't have the same type of cam sensor as the '07 and '08 L61.

 

exactly as LsCobalt07 said, 05-06 l61 dont have provisions for a cam sensor and 09+ is a vvt engine with a different head, so 07-08 are the only heads that will work.
