Wheel speed sensor might be crap or loose connection

check connections at each wheel

That'll typically throw the ABS light on, but I agree, that's what it sounds like. There's something going on that's throwing the wheel speed sensors off.

Do you have issues with traction control as well?

its not ABS. Your rotors have areas of metal missing causing a light pedal vibration. I have it too. It definately is not ABS and I agree its strange that you only feel it some of the time. With that said, I may be wrong as its actually an un even worn pad that seats just right some of the time so you can feel the pulsing?

I Could be wrong but it feels just like the ABS kicking on.... im almost sure of it... and yeah I dont have a CEL on so im not sure if it is a wheel speed sensor or not... that was my initial thought but with no CEL I was thinking something else

It won't throw a CEL, it'll throw the ABS light on. That's what mine did at least. I know the Cobalt isn't as loud as older cars, but do you hear the ABS system kick on or do you just feel the vibration?

You're probably on the hunt for some DIY advice, but just wanted to make sure to offer my assistance in the event you decide to work with a dealership on getting this looked into. In any case, I hope you're able to find a resolution for this - sounds like a troublesome issue.

All the best,
Sarah

I was told you can check an aircraft's anti-skid system by spinning the wheel speed sensor then stop it with the brake set. If its working the brake should cycle. I could see where this principal could work on a car as well, if you can get to where you can spin the wheel speed sensor indipendalty of the wheel that is.

BTW: Anti-Skid on aircraft is the same basic principal as ABS on a car.

I hate when cars do that. My daily had a HORRENDOUS noise coming from the front end. Sounded like it was falling apart. I crawled under and checked EVERYTHING I could think of and couldn't find the source of the noise. Drove an hour and a half to see my dad and have him see if he could figure out what it was..... As soon as I pulled in his driveway I didn't hear it anymore. It hasn't been back since.

I notice it does it when is switching from reverse to forward before the car is completely stopped....2 -3 mph.... so im wondering if doing that is causing it other times
