So here I go. In the parking lot of my firehouse, go to turn the key off to run inside and bam, key says no I'm not going anywhere. So great now my key won't turn from on position to anywhere but crank. Stalled the car in my driveway to shut it off and unhooked the battery, to the dealership tomorrow morning we go.... Wish me luck.

 

same thing happened to me a few weeks back, took the steering column apart and the ignition cylinder fell to pieces.. lol, it's a quick fix though you'll be fine

 

Did you fix it yourself or get it warrantied?

did they have to order another cylinder or did they have one in stock, just trying to figure out what to expect and how long I'll be out of the car for... I also need headlights warrantied, mine fog up really bad on the inside, lots of moisture gets in, horrible infamous steering column rattle, sway bar end links are shot and the rear clunks around turns as well as rear o2 keeps throwing a CEL....

hopefully it'll all get covered... haven't had time to get anything serviced since I was in police academy full time but now that I graduated on friday, lots of things are going to get done this week (hopefully)

 

yeah they had one in when I went, but they also had to replace the housing for it, which they didn't, it still only took a day though

 

mine took just over an hour when I had mine in for it under warranty

 

You should of gotten a letter for it. I got one about a year after it happened to me.

 

here comes nothing, going to head over to the dealership now see what excuses they'll give me for not doing service on something because of "aftermarket parts"

 

Okay so the car went in for service at 0830, I'm driving a rental impala for now let's see how long before ALL of the issues are resolved

 

No word on the car today, maybe tomorrow....

 

I know i'm gonna need to get my ignition fixed one day too... sometimes itll go for a long time without the key sticking and sometimes itll happen a few days in a row. luckily havent gotten stranded yet >.<

oh and in my case its only when i'm trying to get in and start the car which sucks when its 100 degrees with the windows up lol!!!

 

how much is it to replace out of the pocket for you?

leaving in a couple mins to pick up the car, let's see what wasn't fixed because of "mods"

 

Mine was funny when I went to get mine replaced. There service station you drive your car into and it was cold and I have the exhaust done and couldn't turn off the car. My service guy was working with me and the lady walked by and said can you turn your car off. He was like yeah go ahead and turn it off for him. She sat in the car for like 10 minutes trying to figure it out. He was like yeah that's why he's here LOL.

that's the outcome, to make the story short, I'm an another pissed off customer.

 

Sarah, I sent in my information for reimbursement for ignition key recall. how long before I receive check ? 2weeks now.
