Another cobalt down. engine blown.

i just wanted to let you know that i just found out that most probably i blew my ringlands.
i've been running 2.8 with 60# for 8k miles+custom tuning and 5kmiles with 42#+ custom tune. what do you think was my problem. i dont think im running lean cuz my tailpipe is dirty but who knows. what do you think happen here? im going diamond pistons, cometic headgasket, ARP's. im sticking with 2.8 cuz i dont want this crap again cuz im planning to trade for an evo or vette next year.

I think it may have been a tuning issue, that's what alot of the blown engines have stemmed from.

A dirty tail pipe isnt really a good indicator . Your likely running pretty rich out of boost and light driving and lean up top . My SS runs rich enuff down low to about blacken my whole back bumper , but on my last dyno it leaned out to 12.5-13.0:1 between 5500-7K . That was in 60* air . Given that fact that it been so damn cold here , I have not gone anything past 1/2 throttle .

What combo was in the car when u popped it ?

i have a problem car is at the dealership and to say the least my #3 plug smells a lilsweet i know it's a dangerous setup to go with but i've had my 2.79 pulley on w/stg2 ever since i had the car and ever since i did i the 2 pass mod i think i have been really maxin the **** out of my injectors b/c when it gets past 6500 the car starts falling on it's face and i didnt get the endplate done at the dealership i was wondering if they could void my warranty for not having it installed by a gm technician

if so what should i do to keep my warranty i only have 18000 miles on the car

come on guys i really need help and i'm not a premium memberi f i can't get noticed not being 1 then i guess thats wat it'll have to take

Even with a good tune you are probably going to run lean with anything smaller then a 2.9 with 42# injectors.

Shanman: They really can't void your warranty unless they can prove anything you did caused a failure. Running a 2.79 with the stage 2 tune is really not a very good idea, and if you have a problem that is probably going to be the cause.

you should have taken that 2.79 before you went to the dealership. when i blew my piston i didnt even bother. i went straight to a mechanic and had my pistons replaced. forged btw. cost me 3000 for parts and labor.

good news i didn't blow it! strait from the paper. Pulled valve covers and found #3 rocker arms off due to adjusters/lifters broken due to High RPM over rev. Replaced adjusters on #3 cylinders valves. They also told me since this is the 2nd time I've taken it for "overrevin" then the next time warranty won't cover it. 1st time was my fault (downshiftinto 2nd at 105) but the rockers fell off so they just put the rockers back on and i knew that that **** wasn't gonna be good for long so i'm just gonna baby it for a while and hopefully no other adjusters will break off

Finnally someone else did what I did about a year ago! I down shifted into 1st at like 60mph and shattered 3 lifters!! Drove the car like that for two weeks and not one engine code. 2 Chevy dealers told me the car was fine that it was something I did with a custome tune lol!
