battery issue

Ok the oddest thing happened just now.

I drove to work fine earlier this morning. Went out at lunch car would not start some battery just not enough juice. Got jumped brought it home let it run another 10 min, felt great whole ride home, had 14.7 volts the whole time. Get honme turn car back off cant start again.

Nothing has changed except the HID's I installed, when I turn them on and off i hear the relays click and such no issues there, had them in about 4 weeks now, no problems till today.

does this sound like a battery issue or alternator issue. Any help would be great

well since you have a voltage meter, check the batter with the car off, then start the car and check again. you said the voltage was 14.7 so i doubt it's the alternator, and teh batter would be lower than that. check your grounds, connections, make sure there's no dirty terminals, etc. if that checks out, check the starter.

what happens when you turn the key and it doesn' start?

basically the lights flicker and **** when i turn the key. like i said it drives fine once started. all conections are good.

my other thing is i dont think the hid's are stealing power cuase i would have had issues over these 4 weeks not just today, its been fine until today. i wonder if my battery just took a **** today

bump, hopefully i can get some more input

Buy an Optima & then tell us the response (I don't know if the batt. is the problem, but it's worth the money anyways...)

i had a battery problem with my ss/sc. i couldn't figure it out for like a month. sometimes it would start and others nothing. i took it into chevy to have them look at it and they said the battery was fine. then one day it wouldn't start so i shook the battery housing and it worked. took it to chevy and told them what happened and they looked at it. they said it was a bad connector to the fuse box or something like that. anyways, next time it doesn't work, try shaking the fuse box a bit and see if that fixes it.

did you test the voltage with the car off? that will tell you if it's the battery.

that does nothing to tell me if all of the cells are still working, i went to the shop and we tested and the battery was ok. I replaced both terminals and im buying a optima anyway, but i go the car to start successfully, by replacing terminal connectors and cleaning the terminals on the battery.

The one bad thing about our battery being in the back is it gets much more vibration and it seems that that is part of the problem.

Ill keep you guys updated but so far its working again, im going to go over my whole electrical system tomorrow,

not yet. it was not starting for me sometimes too. i agree that it's probably not your alternator because when you jumped it, it ran fine. that was the same thing that happened to me. and if the battery tested out ok, then that can't be it either.
