Bogging Injen Problem
Bogging Injen Problem
I know everybody here complains about the same thing but this is my story....when i first bought the car i got myself an injen intake...the intake got installed and the car seemed to be giving me problems by bogging in certain gears, it would rev on its own and stuff and not running properly.. so i first thought it might be the air filter so i changed the one that came with my intake to a ractive one(bad move) and the car was still all screwed up....then my buddy gave me his old injen air filter and the car was still the same(this time i kept that filter)..and of course the engine light came on...so after so much asking and looking around for an answer to that i came across this guy on the site and he said clean the throttle body with the spray cleaner and everything will run fine and go away...so i went to buy the throttle body cleaner and to my surprise it worked it took away the engine light and the car was running like new....now about 2 weeks ago my girl got me HID kit for my fogs...so i decided to install them...as i was installing the driver side hid fog i noticed that my air filter was too big and it would rub up against the back of my hid.. so i was like screw it ill just go buy a new filter since this one is all dirty and old....i go to this performance store and i buy a 25 dollar filter thinking it wouldnt make much of a diff since its only a filter..The 25 dollar filter i bought had an opening at the bottom(it was the type meant for a short ram intake cuz it would have no chance of sucking in anything) now the one that was already in my car was an injen filter and it was covered/protected at the bottom just like u would see with a normal injen filter..
when i installed the new filter(25$) the car started running funny but i thought hmm maybe it will go away...3 days ago i took my car out i drove it around and at night after i picked up my girl the car shuts off on me..i was like ok weird...so i turn it back on and the car revs to 3000rpm then shuts back off...i was getting worried now..i turn it back on again and the only way it stayed on was if i slightly pressed my clutch and kept gassing it in 2nd or 3rd but i HAD to press the clutch slightly or the car would rev on its own for 2 seconds then it would die on me. somewhere in between all that shutting off my CEL lights deicdes to turn on..at this point im like wtf
.....i was like ok im just going to drive to home depot parking lot which wasnt too far as i was driving the car got better like nothign ever happened..... so i go back to the place were i was going(bar) i come out an hour later and i try turning on the car and the car just reved up to 3000 and shut off...i turned it on again and it shut off...i got scared and decided to take it home....and look at it the next day.the whole drive home i had to ride my cluctch and rev like a maniac in order for the car to move a little and so it would not turn off... Next day i go to parts source and i buy a another ractive filter with some stupid plastic protecttion ...thinkin it was my filter that was causing my problems....i get home and i install the new filter.. but first i cleaned the throttle body made sure everythign was dry and clean and i put the new filter on...after the new filter was on i turn on my car and the car was runing fine....but i styll have the CEL light on....now i can drive my car but i get crazzy bogging in 2nd gear or in 3rd or when i floor it in 2nd...not to mention my CEL light is on...... IM thinking its the filter i honestly think its the filter...im waiting to go and buy an injen air filter so that i can put it on and see if the problem resumes...what do you guys think????????....i know my story is long and prob confusing but some help would be appreciated....some help would b good...what should i do??..IM not crazy smart on cars so i can really figure out the problem on my own.... anything would b appreciated...

You most likely have a bad MAF sensor. Did you oil the filter? If so hands down that is the issue.
If you can get a new MAF sensor, and a NEW Injen filter (we carry replacement ones) and you should have your problems fixed...

iiunno...thats weird. Have you tried putting the stock intake back on and see what that does? other then that iiunno, maybe the injen intake can only take the injen filter, but iiunno. I know on the Injen site the filters are $57, should call them up and order one.
.
i never oiled my new filter and i never cleaned the maf sensor...i just bought the new one cleaned my throttle body and installed the new one...i was thinking of bringing it to my mechanic but i figured if it something i can do ill do it...now im waiting to see if i can get myself an injen filter today if i cant then ill try taking everythign apart cleaning it properly and see how it goes....should i oil the filter aswell??? or what do you guys think...should i go out and buy a new filter an injen one or should i keep my 25 dollar one and just make sure its oiled and cleaned??
Sometimes oiled filters will leave oil on the maf sensor if over oiled which causes the car to run like crap.AEM actually has a dryflow filter that does not use oil on the filter.Do you know where your maf sensor is?
..
yea the maf sensor is down the pipe at the bottom near the air filter... and i noticed it was all white and dirty from the snow and salt... the new filter i bought i never oiled it(maybe i should of oiled it)

Get a new Injen filter, that way you know it is in perfect shape, or you will be going around and around later down the road again...
no you def should not oil your filter, our MAF sensors dont really allow us to use oiled filters thats why TTR asked, beccause if you DID oil the filter: that would be why the car is forked up
Or if the filter you have was oiled (ractive) then that will cause it also.
i just bought the filter and did not oil it up or nothing... what im going to try to do now is clean the maf sensor i know its delicate and stuff but i have a small air blower ill clean it quickly and clean the throttle body again and ill see what happens....
..ok so right now im going to clean the intake and clean the maf sensor...ill spray some throttle body cleaner and ill go to parts source and buy a maf sensor cleaner ill put evrythign together and see how that goes...

You should really get a Injen Hydro shield though, it will help keep the filter clean and help prevent these issues.
I had a short AEM intake on my car for a while; in wisconsin snow and salt. After I got my Injen intake from TTR and put that puppy on I notice my MAF sensor was pretty nasty looking after one winter. I did clean it all up to before replacing it in the INJEN intake. Never had those problems tho.
