Boosting only 10psi?
When i bought my ss s/c brand new, i was only boosting about 10 psi, that's because i needed to break the car in. After that i started reaching that magical 12.5......Now i have the satge 2 and im boosting about 16.25 psi.....im just thinking that you should be patient then you will reach that 12.5

Same here but mines drop back to 10 psi. Sometimes the gauge gets stuck for a second. Am not sure if its a boost line or the gauge is messing up. Stage 2 does not fix car problems. If you get stage 2 its not going to fix the problem. For sure you will get more then 10 psi but not over 15 psi or at 15psi.
Actually my basement flooded and i lost alot of my electronics , including my camera. It's hard to miss the adjustment screw on the bypass actuator . What i did was back the screw off a turn , then check that the bypass will open smooth by hand . If it sticks at all , tighten the set screw up till the bypass opens without any bind at all . Then test drive and see where it boosts . Just dont go crazy when backing off the set screw , i marked the screw and the plate where it was set originally , just to feel safe.
Your not talking about this mod right? http://www.******************/forums...ypass-mod.html

the Boost gauge in these cars isn't the most accurate in the world . As long as boost isnt being bypassed out the bypass valve i'd bet its fine . There is an adjustment to the bypass valve , turn the hex screw out till you can feel the butterfly valve ,in the bypass port ,catch just a little bit when you open it . Then give the screw about 1/4 turn ( or until it opens smooth ) and see if that makes any difference . altitude , air temp , and humidity can also effect the amount of boost you will see.
Remember boost is also a measurement of restriction , seeing lower boost can also mean that you removed a restriction . If you had a clogged cat recently , the new one could be flowing that much better than the old one, thus showing you lower boost numbers.

NO, the bypass mod is a whole other thing, and kind of worthless IMHO .
What i'm talking about is the bypass valve adjustment. Sometimes they can be out of adjusment from the factory. If the set screw is adjusted in too far it will hold the bypass valve open a little bit possibly bleading out some boost . A properly adjusted bypass should be completely closed .

I dont think you have a problem with only boosting 10 psi because mine was the same way when I bought it completely stock. I felt no problems with it or anything, just thought that was what it was supposed to boost. Then I went to stage 2 and 2.9 pulley and hit 17psi when it was cold out. Think you're ok, go for the stage 2, you'll love it
I originally had 12.5 from the factory. Bought the car completly stock, never was abused. Still stock now, just airbox mod, the vacuum line broke off of that actuator and had to be super glued back on. Car now makes 5 psi at WOT and climbs to about 9..... the part is on back order and still no lick with the dealership. **** me right?
Agree with Perfect.
I don't think its a problem. Im completely stock. I hit 10 almost immediately at WOT and climb to 11, albeit a slow climb. I bet as the weather starts to cool that I may see over 11.

Update:
Got the actuator repaired after waiting two months from GM and the cobalt engineer. The only thing is this: When i floor it, it spikes to 6, 7psi and then climbs to 11 by redline. It never spikes to 11. Should it?

hey has any of u guys boost gauge screw up like just read in segments lol i checked the lines thinking i had a leak or something but found nothing any remedis on how to fix it i use to boost 10.5 and slowly cimb lol but that was for a few months now i dont know what im boosting it never goes above 0 anymore lol with a tune up think it would help from GM lol
I just bought my 06 balt ss/sc a few weeks ago USED with 47000 miles on it. So far i have not really ran it to hard but i have had it pretty fast and i do watch the boost gauge, and im hitting around 11psi. after reading this thread im going to try for 12.5, i think it might go there cause i keep climbing in speed and the gauge looks like it wasnt to move up some more, but i really dont want to get a ticket in my new car that i have only had for about 2 weeks now. I will post results later tonight when i get home from work!!
so on the way home today i was doing alot of 3rd and 4th gear pulls and i was only able to reach just past the first mark after 10psi i wasnt in the middle but i was defiantly past that first mark ...im assuming that would be around 11.5 psi so i say thats good enough for a stock ss/sc.
another thing i noticed is i jump up to about 9 psi pretty quick, then it climbs the rest of the way.
