I'm with blazin. Optimas are the ****. Just remember:
red top: more for performance cars
yellow top: designed with car audio in mind
blue top: marine
I know they run around $130 around me though. So expect to pay a hefty price.
If you don't wanna go for the optima, interstate batteries are pretty good.

Find out what was causing the battery to die, thats what killed it. Out of all the OEMs, Delco and Motorcraft (Ford) batteries are by far the longest lasting. There is something else wrong with your car or your habits, such as leaving lights on or having a draw in the system that is draining the battery, which shortens its lifespan. Don't blame the battery for that, when batteries go bad they won't come back from a discharge, try running some $39 Crapmaster battery down all the way a couple times, it will die right there.
Optimas are always a good choice, thier spiral core, AGM design is super powerful and almost bulletproof to any kind of vibration, temperature, discharge, almost anything. Red Tops are the only ones that carry a long warranty though, and they are comprable to a top level conventional battery. The Yellow Tops are a deep-cycle high performance battery, but they are usually not warrantied for longer than a year due to thier nature, they are usually a competition battery with a far above average load on them.
Intersate makes great batteries, and the Sears Diehard series is good if you buy the upper level Gold or Platinum ones, they last and have a great warranty to boot. I don't know what you have in Canada, but look for something equivalent.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

HAPPY NEW YEAR
There should be warranty on the battery still.. Take it to a GM parts department and ask.
Optima Yellow Top. I got mine when my Farm and Barn(Fleet) battery crapped out in my Neon and then when I traded the Neon I went and bought a Duralast battery from Autzone and kept the Optima.
