car bogs down at the race track and on highway

So tonight I went to the track tonight to try out my new drag radials, well they work great they hook up and go!!! No tire chirps at all but once I try to go WOT the car bogs down, I let off the gas then try again but it does nothing as if its just sits at idle. Then it will kick and fly down the track. I've always had this problem but I would usually just baby it into WOT for that reason and wheel spin. Since I got the dr's I don't need to ease it into WOT now. It even does this on the highway(regular driving) at around 3k rpm although it doesn't completely shut down. Its like it hesitates when trying to pass someone up at 3k rpm. Any ideas what it could be?

a couple of months ago, my car went into reduced power mode and I got a code for throttle position failure. Could it be my throttle body?

That would make a lot of sense. I'd consider that a high possibility
