hello,
this seems to only happen after I driven the car 5 miles or more and all of sudden my rpm just drops to 0 but all the electronics still work (lights,radio,etc...) and it will sometimes do it when I idle at a stop light. I recently had it in a local shop here and I told them the service engine light was on but it just seems like the reset it so they don't seem to really do anything. its an 06 2.4. if you need more info I'll try my best to explain more.

what does your car temp look like when this happens???

 

have not looked at that. will go give a test drive. I hope its nothing to do with cooling as I just had a new radiator/condenser and fan installed almost a year ago.

 

may be throttle position sensor?

 

car was around 190 temp. engine light did come on. so I can try to get it scanned by a part store Instead of a shop maybe

 

I'm guessing that it might be either a cam or crank sensor.

Post the code when you get it read!
