Changed tensioner- ticking persists

So I changed my timing chain tensioner about a month ago, and it went successfully because the noise I used to hear before is gone. However, now I'm hearing a similar noise but it isn't as loud. Does this mean that the actual chain stretched and needs replacing? How long could I go before having to replace it? How much does it cost to get it done if I buy the kit?

i would check the header bolts i had the same type of issue after changing the tensioner with no luck in noise change i checked the bolts and they were 1-2 turns loose causing noise when started. my 2 cents.

You think just the guides could be bad? Are those an easy fix? And well silvercharged what the weird thing is, the noise isn't there on startup. On startup all I hear is the engine and the really annoying buzzing noise that I think might be coming from the IC pump. This noise is heard within a specific temperature range, usually anywhere from 160 to 175, it's really weird. Before that I don't hear anything, I even stop and pull to the side of the road periodically to check for that noise, and it's never there.

Yeah that is weird as turbosmart said next bet is checking the guides theres alot of people that have had bolts back out and guid straight break. You can try to inspect through top with valvecover off but to see the goods down low you gotta pull the cover. I recently had to pull my cover and it was not near as bad as it sounds i took my time and retimed my chain and it took me 4-5 hours. i work at as a mechanic at a toyota dealer so i was a little nervous to crack a gm open but not bad at all.one other thing you say it makes the noise when warmed up that could very well be a waterpump bearing. as they heat up it could make the noise the hotter it gets. however w.p.'s on ecotecs is pretty rare. if you need help while doing the cover you can pm me and ill give you my number to call me the phones always on. good luck.

Yea, if I were you I would order a timing chain kit from crate engine depot to be on the safe side and replace all the parts. How many miles does the car have? And a video/sound clip would help us here too
