clutch?

hey im having a problem i was traveling this weekend to florida from georgia on 95 and i was driving in 5th gear of course but when i would try to speed up after going 70 my rpms would rise really fast and then drop to catch up slowly and i would be ablt to speed at all when i was in cruise cause it would just rise and drop really fast does anyone have an idea whats wrong im pretty new with cars and im just getting the hang of working on things myself so i would really appreciate this i have a 2006 cobalt ss coupe

yup that's what's going on it's slipping, so you don't have much material left on the disk you could be stuck anywhere so drive as little as possible. Mine went out without any warning and I was 60 miles away from home so it got trailered back by an SS silervado

I have the 2.4 too, I run a spec stage 3+ easy to daily drive, great for power holding.
