ya if the compressed air doesn't do the trick the lightly spray the brake clean on. and i would do a moderate amount, let it dry and then test it out.

ya just let it dry. wave it around a little bit not hard just enough to get the residual out. and then try it.

Um, well that would probably be why your CEL is on.

Okay, well I had a lot difficulty understanding what exactly you are trying to say. I believe you said you have a cold air intake, you occasionally get a CEL, your dealer did scan it for you and provided you the codes, but won't fix it because of the aftermarket CAI. That all sounds perfectly normal. I guess you could tell us what your code is, I'm guessing P0171. Which brand of CAI are you using? You might have to just get your own scanner and clear the codes as they come up from time to time.

I have never heard of a Titan brand intake. I still need the code. And you absolutely should NOT have put oil on your air filter. Do this; Put your stock intake back on and get the codes cleared. See if that fixes it.

I have had my intake on for about 6+ months now, and I recently got the "car running lean bank 1" code... could something else be the problem?

ive been reading the post on the P0171 code.

i just installed the injen cold air for my 2.0 a few weeks ago. then had the GM touring installed about 2 weeks ago. last night the CEL light came on heading to AK from DFW Tx(visiting inlaws).

everyone is saying get the code cleared and move on. my questions is this, is it effecting anything. if more air is coming in is it telling another part to send more fuel?

I want to start by reminding everyone that this thread really isn't a problem troubleshooting thread. It's designed to let you know the proper action to take if a light comes on. But I'll address the recent items.

An airbag light is not the same thing as a MIL/CEL. Get that checked by the dealer right away.

The P0171 code is highly misunderstood. It does not mean that the engine is running lean. It means the fuel trim system, which compensates for fuel mixtures, has being correcting for lean too often, and hence sets the code. The engine is still just fine. It is a common code to get with aftermarket intakes because they can deliever more air past the MAF sensor rather then through it. Here is what you do: Check the code and verify it is the P0171, and only that. Then simply clear it, knowing that you are fine. The point is, when the light is on, you don't know what it's for UNTIL you scan it. Just don't assume it's one thing when it could be another.

My Check Engine Light comes on and goes off, after a few hours, a day max, has been doing this for a couple weeks. I took it in for an oil change, when I got it back it stoped for a few days then started back up again. I have no engine/performance mods done what so ever but the car is booked in for Stage 1 in 2 days. The car seems to run fine with or without the light on but i have no idea what the real problem with the car is. The only mods to the car are the stereo and the HID conversion kit. Could the adapter (GMOS LAN 04) have anything to do with it and oner more question do you think its going to cause a problem with the stage 1 install, cuz I have been waiting to put it in and might loose my mind if I get a phone call saying "Sorry...
Thanks

More then likely the stage kit install will correct whatever the problem is.

By the way, just because the light goes out, the code is probably still stored in the computer. So you can still get it scanned to see if its there and what it is.

Thanks,
I was hoping when they flashed the car during the install it would at the very least tell me what the problem is so it can be delt with.

Just get a scanner

So I know no one probably has 100 bucks laying around, but I got a scanner from checker just so I could have my own, because I have a bad habit of not disconnecting my battery when I do work so anytime I mess with my intake or anything it sets of the MIL. For $100 you can get a little computer to keep in your car that will tell you exactly what the code is and if it is just a result of you doing something you can turn it off. Maybe the best 100 bucks I spent.
