Unhappy Cobalt LT Won't Start

So yesterday my K&N air intake came in and later that day I put it together using the instructions. I took it for a test drive to see how it would ride which the results where pretty good. I didn't have any problems, no CEL lights, nothing. Today I get up to go to an eye appointment and I try to start my car and the steering wheel is locked, and the anti-theft lock is on. I waited a little while thinking maybe I turned the wheel last night while getting out and locked it. Well no dice, I've sat for at least 25 minutes before trying to diagnose the problem. I've checked the fuses to make sure they where alright, but I couldn't check the battery because the battery is in the trunk and I couldn't pop the trunk. So I tried the re-learn process but to no avail, I tried turning it over and all I heard was clicking coming from the Starter/Crank fuse. So I tried to pull the key out of the ignition and the key wouldn't come out, and I know it shouldn't be locked in because I had my car took in for the recall to get the part switched. So I'm fumbling around with that trying to get it to budge but it didn't budge, so after searching the internet I found I had a switch to pop out the key. I popped the key out, and opened the trunk and disconnected the battery and let it sit. Reconnected everything and nothing, no CEL, no anti-theft light, not even the dome light would come on anymore even though the dome light before hand was very dim. I honestly have no clue whats going on it can't be from the new intake, but I don't know what else could of caused this problem, never had this happen before until today. Any help I will greatly appreciate.

Sounds like you left a dome light on and your battery is dead

I hope all it is a dead battery but that is odd because I normally leave my domelight off so that at night the floorboard lights is the only thing you see.

If you have a voltmeter just check the voltage on the battery should be at least at 12.6volts if its lower than that the battery is dead. But all your symptoms point to a dead battery

Awesome, well I'll change the battery and if anything else goes haywire (fingers crossed) I'll let you all know, thanks for the speedy responses lol would of thought it would of taken some hours to get help.

Batteries do go bad, could of been a short drive with a bad alternator. Get the battery fixed then have a auto parts store check the alternator

I'm back and with results, so I jumped the car, finally! And after waiting for a little bit I took it to a car parts store to have the battery and the alternator checked. The battery showed up good and the alternator showed up good too. What happened to make the car battery die I have no clue, neither does the person who checked my car. Hopefully this doesn't happen again, and I can go on my merry way to customizing my whip. lol

I would check the ground thats in the trunk next to the battery, i had that grounding it self and u was getting the same thing like if battery was dead but it was good. Take it off clean it, use sand paper if you can to get a good ground and wait to see if it happens again

If u have a test light you can check to see if u have a drain. Unhook ur negative cable and hook the testlight up in between the cable and negative post. If the bulb lights up bright then you have a drain somewhere and u can start pulling fuses to see which circuit it is. Make sure your test light is not an led because it will light up bright with very little power. You can also test drain with an ammeter but since you are not sure what u are dealing with you will most likely blow the meters internal fuse
