Cobalts ss/sc has exhaust leak
HI everyone, i am new to this forum and i would like to see if you could help me with a problem i am having.
first my car
2006 Chevy cobalt ss/sc black
Stage 2 kit and gm performance exhaust
now hears my problem. i have had an exhaust leak for the last month and chased it around and found that my exhaust manifold was cracked and i replaced that. I then started the car thinking that was the problem, so when i replaced it i drove the car and still had the leak. I then replaced both of the gaskets the one from the ex.manifold to the cat and then the one from the cat to the tailpipe.
so after doing that no luck. i then had my father start my car and listened for the leak. now i could smell the fumes from the leak, and i found it it is in the flex pipe at the top of the cat.
so now my question, is the performance exhaust cat different from the OEM cat that originally came on the car, and if so were can i get the performance cat.
Thanks for reading my post
sincerely yours

Not sure of your wording on the question. Either way, zzperformance sells a good downpipe that you can buy catted or non catted and that should fix ur issue. Cheaper than oem and better quality/less likely to break again. Re-replace those gaskets when you do it.
The oem exhaust sucks on these cars; always breaking

Well, if it's not stock it's different. You can grab a new flex pipe and cat off ZZPerformance's website. Another option is replacing the stock down pipe with ZZP's unit. They're located outside Grand Rapids, MI. Where in MI are you located?
EDIT: damn you, RB.

The cat that comes on the downpipe from ZZP is a high flow cat, which basically means exhaust gasses are able to flow much faster through it than the stock cat. In my experience the downpipe with the high flow cat didn't make much of a noise difference, but it could possibly throw a code, didn't for me though.

SS/SC exhaust leak
What i ment was that i bought the car a year ago and it has stage two kit and when i look at the muffler its says that its gm performance, and if that is the stock exhaust or is there a performance exhaust kit that gm installs on the car. If that is the case then i need to know if the cat for the oem is the same or did they change it to a high flow cat for the performance.
Thanks to everyone to the post and il let you know how it goes.
