So I was having problems with my cobalt a few months back, I was getting codes p0496, p2135, and p2138 among others, but these were the three that were constantly showing up.

I replaced the throttlebody and it cleared the codes with my reader. Now the p2135 and p2138 (throttle body and throttle position sensor codes) disappeared for about a month and a half, but the p0496 (evap Purge Valve) code was still present. The other day I pick my girlfriend up from her internship (XM satellite radio in NYC) I was sitting in traffic and boom, I get codes again and engine power reduced.

I carry my code scanner in my car because I used to have to reset the codes eveytime I started my car before I replaced the TB. So I scan the codes to figure out what the problem is and, I have the p2135 and p2138 codes again along with the p0496!

Is the EVAP purge valve related to the throttle body? why did I replace the TB and now the codes are back? I plan on replacing the purge valve but havent had time too with school and work just yet.

Bump, I just replaced the purge solenoid and no more p0496 code, but its still idling rough and thrwing code p2138.
