Cold Temp = Low Coolant
Cold Temp = Low Coolant
Today was in the 20s today and my car sat while I was at work all day. When I came out and started the car, it said it had low coolant. After running for around a minute and warming up, it went away.
Has anyone else had this?
The car only has 7000 miles on it.

as stupid as it sounds, just fill it with a little more coolant, because commonly there an airbubble or whatever that burps back up into the system, i have done it before and havent had a problem since, and i had the same problem and only when it was cold as well.
stupid ass dealership tried to blame it on my K&N intake pushing the overflow bottle sideways and throwing off the sensor, but its BS, so just add more

Mine did it once, only for a second though. It was very cold outside. Apparently it just contracts a little to much for the sensors' liking. Nothing to worry about as long as it doesn't come on after your up to normal temperature
mine did that so i looked under the hood and saw the bracket holding to coolent to the supercharger was broke any help????
can anyone help me

That's for the intercooler, not the actual engine coolant. That shouldn't throw any warning lights or anything - just take it to the dealership and they should be able to fix / replace it relatively cheap.
It's been in the teens, single digits and minuses here for about 3 weeks... so far, my Cobalt has only done the "LOW COOLANT" business once (when it was -20 and it sat during a double I had to work). It hasn't done it since.
On another thread dealing with the same issue, I had made the comment that my last Cavaliers (96 and 98 2.2L OHV engines) had done the same thing when they were cold. I called my brother, who is a GM master tech (and he rubs it in every chance he gets) and described the symptoms. He told me not to worry about it. The sensor just sticks when it gets cold... i said okay.
And it doesn't appear to be low on coolant, so...

my car does the same thing when its cold out. i think that they all do that. mine is about two weeks old.
Would rather not warranty it ..lol..i'm sure it wouldn't go over so well is a 'stock' cobalt.
