So what seems to be the most common problems with cobalts? Not a one time thing, but what do you guys hear about most often. This is for Truedelta, which is a new-ish site that is provideing detailed reliability reports. It goes way above and beyond something like the magazines and publications that are out, as the results are from real users that report on what really happens with their car.

For those that are not members of the survey panel of truedelta, if you can post with the problem, year and model of car, and what the cost was to fix (if not covered under warranty) i will update the info.

Sunroof Bezel falling out --Twice in a year & a half. It fell out for the second time today... Under Warranty.
Sqeaky rear deck when going over a bump. Still have to take it up to Chevy to fix.
Sqeaky sunroof shade, but if moved forward (when roof is open or closed) it stops. Still have to take it up to Chevy to fix.

 

random "mystery vibrations", Which I'm told have to do with the factory sub???? (would've thought that got fixed in quality control and testing but...) Had the sunroof bezel fall out a bunch of times until it was recalled and a new one was put in. Stock interior paint peeled faster than a slutty banana and the squeaky deck thing I've heard a LOT, haven't had it thank god, but heard it a LOT.

 

Hard starting when cold, rotors suck, and thats it

 

car shutting off!!! and its happened doing 120mph on the highway once, but yeah the cars idle is all messed up, and it shutting off

 

I have a Ls and my car shuts down at 115 in 4th gear. Still one more gear to go.

 

ROLL PINS, and the sunroof bezel, which was a pretty easy self-fix. Then yeah the weak interior paint. Those are my only complaints, and I've heard of a decent amount of other people with the same problems. This is on my 05 SS/SC

 

Also, the rotors look like ****... & the front brake pads produce too much dust. & the battery really blows!

 

had a sensor go bad had it replaced and it went out again had it replaced again and no problems since then but my passanger window goes up really slow i need to take it in to have them look at it

I had my rotors warp when I put on aftermarket wheels. The dealer said that it was probably because the lugs were torqued down too hard. But the shop I had do them torqued them to spec. I had them resurfaced and they warped again within 6 months, so I bought aftermarket ones. (2005 base coupe)

 

i have an auto ( which i hate auto its my first auto car idk why i got auto) but theres a lock pin somewhere inthere and it falls out and you cant take the key out of the ignition you can put it in and outta park and all the gears with out stepping on the break.. happened twice... and to let everyone know ***** if the same problem happens 3 times and you own your car the dealership is suppose to give you a brand new car*** on the thing you sign when ou buy your car it says there supplying you with a safe and reliable car so if you keep having the problem id talk to some one and hey get a new car ...

 

E-brake problems (ratchiting(sp) thing stops working), I had it once so far and hear of others having the same problem.

 

Rotors on the 05&06,front suspension clunks,unaligned bumper,tranny failure,interior rattles so forth and so forth.

 

thats not a problem, you hit the governor


as for me my sunroof button broke and havent gotten it fixed yet, i hear its a common problem

sunroof bezel,
peeling paint on rims,
and peeling interior paint
would probably be the most common issues with cobalts overall.

 

For me:
1. E-Brake ratchet
2. Sunroof switch tweaked
3. Sunroof shakes (doesn't leak)
4. Floormat wears through from the spot where my foot always is

 

by far the biggest problem i had with mine was resale.LOL!!

 

Stock front rotors are crap! Othere than that I haven't had any lingering issues.

 

Both of you know the car is governed right? Of course it shuts off.


Anyway, my ebrake is weak as hell. It won't hold the car in my driveway which has a slope to it. Talked to the dealer about it and they said there was nothing wrong with it.

 

I can't stop putting miles on it

 

Intermediate shaft wasn't greased so it would squeek over bumps .

Fluctuation in the idle RPM's before the updated flash.

Rear seat latches squeek when seats are up .

shitty paint (millions of hood chips)
squeeks/rattles
i think my struts are going bad also and that shouldnt be happening at 35k

 

The Fifth gear in my car stripped out. It wasnt my fault, when i brought it in, they said the inside of the trans chipped off and fell into the gear or something, this was like 2 months after i got my car.
