1. Mysterious loss of clutch pressure causing grinding (mostly in 2nd gear even pushed down to the floor)
2. Occasional inability of shift into 1st or reverse while at a dead stop.
3. brakes are shitty as all hell...rotors suck
4. suspension sucks for the LS
5. crappy interior workmanship (they didn't design it well enough..still has plastic molding stubs n' such)
6. high pitch noise coming from driver side cv axle/diff (sounds like a weak supercharger)
5. vibration at 55-65mph (don't flame, wheels and such are balanced, just got two brand new tires)
6. rear deck rattle
7. WEAK ENGINE INTERNALS.

shall i go on....

don't get me wrong...i love the balt...but for awhile i wanted my cavy back

Almost 8k miles 2007 SS/SC

Interior bezel paint chiped

Leather is cheap

Passenger door squeaked so they greased it for me

Vibrates but thats cuz of my mounts. I don hav a sunroof so my dome light vibrates and thats the most annoyin

A lil paint missin on the corner of my spoiler

Boost gauge actin a lil funny but it might be cuz of my mods

Clutch slips if i shift below 3k

Ignition key issue

Didn't find anyone with this issue on a search so here ya go.

Get in, start car, start to drive, theft deterant light on dash comes on. This happen a couple of times. Now the light comes and and all gauges randomly die for several seconds and then come back repeatiedly. Doesn't seem to hender preformance though.

Called dealer. Started using second key. Seemed fine for 2 weeks and now doing same thing with second key.

FYI - for those with front end clunking noise, check your cradles. Mine were loose. Not all dealers do a thorough pre-delivery check, like their supposed to, which including torque checking of most under carriage nuts and bolts. Gotta love the dealer though. I get the 'you must really beat on this car' crap. Just cause the front tires were mostly used up at 8k miles. lol. I don't drag it but you spend time turning laps on a raod coarse and the fronts go quick.

18200 kms to date
Current unresolved problems:
-Keeping other people from racing me (don't even bother with "remove the tail", i'm keeping it)
-front wheel traction
-slightly sloppy gearshift

Resolved problems:
-'06 Cobalt headlight delivered on car (07 SS SC came without amber cornering lenses) Warranty covered

engine pwr reduced on DIC due to needing PCM reflash...i've just seen that happen to quite a few on here....

brake rotor premature wear due to ceramic brake pads and overheating rotors...

supercharger knock due to rotors hitting each other and hitting the housing (new Aftermarket coupler doesn't help much)....

engine rpm's being up to 500rpm off due to gm stage 2 (SI bullitens said that theres no corrections and that it should correct itself by 3rd gear)....

window switch trim piece paint cracking, gunmetal wheel finish chipping/ cracking....no real mechanical issues, thank god, other than what i brought onto myself with modding

'05 Cobalt

- Chipping interior paint - the piece that runs along the passenger side doesn't chip but the clip design is so crappy that it won't fully seat anymore
- Interior driver door handle plastic chrome coming off
- Fabric coming up around power window button - installed plastic piece to extend the window switch bezel
- Check oil light kept coming on - bad sensor/filter seal
- E-brake light kept coming on - flashed computer
- Shifter top fell off - glued back on
- Sunroof bezel falls off, about once a year
- Constant rattle - heat shield keeps coming loose - 3rd time its been fixed
- Loud noise from bottom - replaced cat converter
- ABS light comes on periodically - haven't taken it in for this yet

Overall I like the performance of this car but I'm so anoyed with all the little rattles and appearance issues that I can't recommend a Cobalt. GM really needs to re-do this one if they expect repeat buyers.

shift knob came off in my hand today..
various squeaks/rattles when going over large bumps
driver side door handle is loose and rattles
seat belts slow to retract
front end/steering excess play and clunk noise
but I still love it

interior paint peeling
sunroof bezel falling off
sunroof itself broke twice
brakes are crap
ebrak is now broke can pull up with one finger
front axle shaft broke
just found out theres a tsb for all four injectors to be replaced by gm my check engine light was on and rough idle so i checked codes and said air/fuel mix and number 1 misfire
inside passanger door handle broke
passanger door window slow as hell
windshield cracked out of the blue one morning
ac blower motor failed
brakets to hold rear bumber were not installed on the car to begin with bumber flapper in the wind
maybe more but this is enough... GM give me 2 extra yr warranty ya gm thank you

I still love the car but dont know why. lol

#2 - Ebrake! - Whats a guy to do w/o one of theses?
#3 - Rotors - Quick Warp... Turned down... warped again... replaced (we'll find out when spring comes if they can hold up)

but all in all i still love my car

Interior rattle between 2-5k rpm
Outside door handles rattle with speakers
Random clicking noise coming from front of engine(around belts) speeds and changes pitch with RPM
Trunk lining falling inward
When in Neutral while braking engine rpm stays close to 3k until gas pedal is tapped
Rough idol on cold starts sometimes killing engine
Brakes fade quickly unless cold day... then it takes a few more minutes
Everyone wants to race me and asks me what stage I am...
