The fact that it's just a porely designed car. I'm tired of my clutch problems. This latest clutch problem is going to cost me around 2000 CAD because GM won't own up to a faulty part.

For more info read this thread. My car has been at the dealer for almost two weeks for this. The part cost 160 CAD and the labour is the rest.

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/problems-service-maintenance-69/gm-f%2A%2Aks-another-customer-again-105743/

The are blaming the after market clutch on this even though I showed them that this has also happened with cars that had the OEM clutch still in it.

It sounds rough and weak, and the car sounds like it has a hissing noise! #2 Nasty grinding noise from engine area! #3 E brake is loose #4 Only getting 5 pnds of boost in 1st ! #5 Had boost guage replaced twice! #6 Weird noise from exhaust when starting car(sometimes)! #7 I had gas pressure cap problems! #8 Water(moisture) around heat vents! Chevy Cobalt Sport 08 @ 1,430 mi can't say I have any problems except if I shift too fast to the next gear, I get this crunch like sound. if I do it slower like almost putting it into n first then the next gear (except doing it all in 1 fluid smooth motion) it won't do that. which I think your supposed to do that anyway? the only other thing is since I put in a LED 3rd tail light, my cruise control stopped working. =/ I don't have any sun roof or sun roof button issues like everyone else has though.

Starting with most recent and the rest are in random order:

I've had two sunroofs in 14,600 miles...first one broke and the second one leaked which caused me to replace the headliner

intermediate shaft problems...first time I lubed it and well, now I'm going to replace it when I feel like it

brake rotors grooved and rusted

shifter cover fell off

clutch switch squeaked....super lube

door handles stick...super lube to the rescue

door switch bezels have paint coming off

paint is coming off at the bottom of both doors

misaligned hood which bent the corner...had to be straightened and repainted

clutch slip at times

engine rattles...still haven't bothered figuring that one out since I don't care anymore

passenger door was out of adjustment....had to bend in the top corner to sit flush

replaced both top door weatherstrips from tear

rear seat squeaks

rear deck rattles

steering wheel is off and the car drifts even after multiple alignment checks...brakes aren't sticking either

windshield started randomly cracking from the bottom with no evidence of impact

driver's axle seal MIGHT be leaking...I sprayed it off and will check later

axles started clicking shortly after buying the car....lubed splines and retightened axle nuts

Pirellis are JUNK and flatspot real bad

exhaust heat shield rattled

PCM and coolant reservoir rattled

sometimes it won't go into reverse

front bumper was wavy on the passenger side...I fixed that

rear bumper sticks out more on one side

I think that's all the problems I've had with it so far. Being that I work on the SOB it's getting old.

I'm scared to think of what else could go wrong with it since that's not all the common problems. "exploding" heater core, clutch going out early, bad crankshaft position sensor, flexpipe cracking, wheel hop damage from winter driving, master cylinder mounting plate eek, etc.

cds get stuck in stereo, rear seat squeaks (self fix), interior paint comes off really easy, brake pads throw alot of dust, that little plastic flap under the front bumper scrapes everywhere, the stopper on the seat belt fell off (which is REALLY inconvinient), but besides that everything else is ok... that and i go through oil faily quickly but thats my fault heh

2007 Cobalt SS/SC
Bought September 22, 2006
current mileage: 39,324 miles

day after I picked it up, the clutch linkage in the firewall popped free. Improperly installed from the factory. Not even ten minutes to fix. Been fine ever since.

January- broke a sway bar link (more attributed to local roads than build quality of car). Replaced under warranty.

Problems? None. Brakes are still excellent, stop the car well. No warpage on rotors. One niggling annoyance with the sunroof... the sunshade all the way back has a tendency to rattle. Since i usually have the radio up very loud, i rarely hear it anyway (i have hearing loss from where I work... )

Other than that, i love this car!

Get your ignition switch checked. also, i read that the supercharged cobalt ss doesn't govern, because it comes equipped with z-rated tires... i could be wrong about that

well, you either didn't read the first post, or have the comprehension of a pre-schooler. here it is again:

So what seems to be the most common problems with cobalts? Not a one time thing, but what do you guys hear about most often. This is for Truedelta, which is a new-ish site that is provideing detailed reliability reports. It goes way above and beyond something like the magazines and publications that are out, as the results are from real users that report on what really happens with their car.

For those that are not members of the survey panel of truedelta, if you can post with the problem, year and model of car, and what the cost was to fix (if not covered under warranty) i will update the info.

Thanks guys!

Only real problem I've had was a broken roll pin @ 10,400 miles. No other problems yet, but I'm also barely over 20,000 miles on my '06.

well, you said you're not seeing the point of the thread. what you meant, is you're not getting why people are responding the way they are.
