Coolant Pump (I think)
Well, I was talking to my friend today for a while(Corvettespirit) and he wa telling me about his coolant pump not working and how he found that out on accident. Well, we checked mine and mine does the same thing so I am gonna go and get it replaced right away. But just as a heads up for you guys, it WILL NOT throw a CEL which is why I had no idea about it...
All you have to do to check it is start your car, and pull off the cap where you put your coolant in. You will know if it is running or not. And if not go get it fixed asap. He was saying it could cause your engine to lock up...I don't know what the liklihood of that happening is but I don't think any of you want to risk it. You can get underneath the car and tap it with a hammer and it might work temporarily until you can get it replaced.

Wait a sec... coolant pump (ie - water pump)?
Am I the only one that believes if it were not working the car would overheat???? Or am I missing the point here?
I'm not so sure that just looking into the radiator or reserve tank is going to be that reliable of a way to check. It depends how all of the plumbing is set up and plus the t-stat closes for a bit, then opens, closes, opens and so on to get heat out efficiently. If it didn't our engines would never get that warm. (I know from first hand experience) Plus when you have the cap off of the radiator you release the pressure and change the behavior of the system.
So if I misunderstood what you are saying then please clarify.
If not... what other ways do you know it's bad?
Has the shop verified this with yours (or his) already?

So... ok. Ignorant me here... --- the IC pump wouldn't apply to the SS/TC would it? Because it's an air to air intercooler.
Not sure what the SS/SC's had but it was a heat pump.... correct?

When the car is first started the Thermostat is closed in order to prevent the circulation of the coolant through the Radiator. This is done for engine warm up purposes. Once the engine reached normal operating temps the thermostat opens and coolant circulates through the rad.

It is easier to show you exactly what it is I am talking about rather than explain it.

Yeah. Listen to hatrickstu... I bumped mine around yesterday and it's working perfectly now. And BTW stu, I don't have hp tuners like you so I hooked a switch up to the hot side of the aftercoolant relay then tied that wire into the hot wire on the i/c pump... So, like you, I can now bleed my system with the car off
Now, I just gotta figure out the fans XD
