Hey guys.

* Well, ever since I got the Cobalt, when I turn it on after it sitting in the cold for awhile, after the initial cranking, there's this terribly loud CHKCHKCHKCHKCHK noise. It does that for a second or two, then goes to a normal cold idle. My Monte doesn't do that, and it's outside permanently. lol. I assume it's "normal", but I'm not sure...

* My brakes bleed a hulluva lot of break dust. The fronts are terrible, and the rears are ok. Like I'll wash my car, and by the next day the fronts are covered. And no, I don't ride my brakes. Maybe a tiny more than iif I was a stick, but regardless. It's unbearable. We've already had the rotors turned and everything. Is this just a normal issue for the stock brakes? I want to put some better ones on soon (not nescessarily the kind of money for drilled ones, but at least some real good pads). Any input onto this?

* The ebrake doesn't really seem to hold real well. I mean, I'll yank it up, but if I'm on a hill, it still rolls back pretty far? Just a quick dealership fix I assume.

* The back suspension has a TERRIBLE squeak. If you hit a speed bump or anything like that. I've got the 2.4SS FE3 set-up. I've taken it in before, and they took everything apart and I believe they said it was a bushing. So I'm taking it back in a few weeks to see again. Anyone else experiencing this?

When I do a cold start on my 07 ss/sc as soon as you start it. You hear ChikChikChikChikChik. Exactly like that you hear the chik five times and then its gone. Almost like the exhaust hits off a heat shield five times and I brought it in the dealer to get it checked out and we shook the nuts out the exhaust and it isn't it. Also, the noise comes somewhere from the rear... anyone else have this problem? Its sooo annoying!

 

the only chik chik chik noise mine makes is after I shut it off... which apparently is normal, but I haven't heard it while the car is on... although my chiks sound like ticks

 

mine does the same thing, but i think mine is the cams tapping on the rockers till the oil finally makes it up to them, it only does it till it's warmed up so i warm up my car everytime i drive it.

 

I think I read somewhere that the trunk latch does a self test, maybe that's the sound?

 

1. No funny noises on startup here.

2. Yes, my brakes produce an ass load of dust. During the summer months I have to wash my car every few days to get that crap off my rims. Just the cheap-o stock brakes from what I've read when searching the issue. Since I will eventually buy new rotors and pads from Uneek I'm not worrying about this one too much.

3. I've read that the e-brakes in these cars are garbage. I never used to park in gear, until I bought this car. If your problem is serious take it in.

4. My rear suspension squeeks pretty bad when cold, below 0c, but that usually goes away after a few minutes. Only really started in the last few weeks. I'll take it in for this eventually.
