CV boot replacement?

Does anybody know if a CV boot from a cavy will fit on our cars? I have a hole in my outer CV boot on the drivers side and it needs replaced, dealership wont replace it under warranty so I would much rather just do it myself. I can buy one for my car from the dealership but its like 50 bucks. I'm just trying to find an alternative. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: Anybody know how to replace a CV boot? I mean I'm sure I could figure it out but its so much easier to ask for help.

dude, if it's 50 dollars just buy it. if it was hundreds i can see you looking to cut corners a little bit, but for 50 bucks not worth the risk

Reason I was asking is because replacement kits for cavys and other cars is only like 10 bucks. But if there is no alternative I guess I will have to talk to the $tealership.

Boot replacement would require removal of the brake caliper, remove rotor, remove axle nut, free up the steering knuckle by unbolting the lower strut mounts, tie rod ends and stabilizer bar end links. Drop the knuckle off the splined end of the CV shaft, provide support for the CV shaft so it doesn't slide out of the trans case and support the knuckle and caliper so you don't break any hoses and wires off. Remove worn boot, totally clean the effected CV joint(s), regrease, slide the new boot(s) over the shaft, reclamp, reverse the steps. It's one of those jobs I'll gladly pay a reputable independent shop $200 to do for me!

Doesn't sound too hard though, just time consuming. Bite the bullet and make a day of it!
