Door Adjustment?
I'm really needing some help.
Last night as I opened my driver's door, a gust of wind whiplashed it open. Now the door won't close. It's hitting the door jamb it seems.
So I'm looking at it and the hinges look fine. I'm thinking I should just be able to adjust it and call it a day.
From what I'm seeing so far, the main part of the hinge somewhat lays underneath the front fender and I'm not seeing a good way to fit a rachet in there. So hopefully someone can help me out.
At the very least, if a GM tech cruises by, can you get me an exploded view of the front driver's side fender? or even better a job aid for this project?
Thanks guys!

i've had the same problem as you except mine might be worse because sometimes my door won't open. i started a thread about it: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/problems-service-maintenance-69/door-handle-inside-broken-194051/ maybe some of the responses i got could be of help to you!

Curious about this too, my drivers door is starting to sag a wee bit (damn these long ass coupe doors) and will require adjustment at some point.
I could see this requiring either a "special" tool or fender removal

no special tools needed, but these doors have no adjustment in the hinges. only adjustment is very slight for the front fender, and the latch striker. sounds like you probably bent the hinges, maybe even the door skin on the hinge mounting locations. I'd wanna swap out the hinges and check the door for bends while it's off. you can buy wrenches for removing the hinges, without removing the fenders, they are u-shaped.
gm exploded view sucks and won't help you any, sorry.

So I actually did take the fender off and I had a full view of the hinges. The bolt holes in the hinges themselves have a lot of wiggle room for alignment. So they are adjustable as far as alignment is concerned. For now, I adjusted it to at least make the door functional for now. I definitely see myself going to a body shop or the dealer soon to get a permanent fix done.
I also discovered the reason behind the door not shutting at times. The actual latch in the door got stuck in a downward position, so the bar on the door frame couldn't go inside the latch. I had to get a flat head and push the latch up while pulling the outside handle. I believe the reason was the plastic around the latch worn down and got stuck inside the latch.
So hopefully this helps somebody in the future, but I didn't have a 100% success with it.
