Downshifting stalling issues

Sometimes when I downshift from 2nd into 1st my car will stall out. It is an intermittent issue. The car idles just under 1000 rpms usually but when I stop it will go down to 500 then spike up to 1500 and back down and stall out. Has anyone else had this issue or know what could be causing it? I scanned the engine and the code popped up saying "camshaft position sensor failure"

Change your camshaft position sensor. Just a stab in the dark.

Does it only happen when you downshift from 2nd to 1st? Or will it happen even if you let it idle, for example, at a stop light? Might be a vacuum leak if it's surging like that. Just a guess.

It won't happen in neutral idling just if I downshift from 2nd to first and stop or stop in second with the clutch held in (tried it out just to see)

yeah why would you ever downshift into first gear unless you are like in stop and go traffic....?

That aside.... i agree... my car did this when i bought it as well.... clean out the throttle body.... i havent had it happen since i cleaneed mine.

Dont spray cleaner right into it though... spray a towel with throttle body cleaner or brake cleaner and wipe it down really good inside.... and around rim the throttle plate itself.
