exhaust leak????

Hey guys, just started having problems with my lsj this morning. I pulled out of my driveway and heard what sounded like an exhaust leak? it coming from what seems to be the right side of the car. You can hear it faintly when the car is idling but you can really hear it when you get on the throttle. Makes the car sound really horrible! I've heard some talk of it might be the cat? could a bad cat make the motor sound like this?

thanks for any input!

probly your flex pipe which is part of the catalytic converter / downpipe.

cant tell for sure though its hard to diagnose a car via forum. jack it up, start the car and feel for the leaks

sounds like something simple. is that something that is known to be an issue or did I get a rare one?

Doesn't seem like it's the flex pipe between the header and the cat.... I was driving on the freeway earlier today and there was a bunch of rattling coming from below the car. More than it's ever done before. I always chalked it up to a heat shield or something but it's gotten worse now

Could be a failed cat. If the cat started to break up it would cause a rattling sound.

Only way to tell is to jack the car up and remove the downpipe, and start inspecting.

Just got out of the Chevy dealer... Turn out it's a cracked exhaust manifold! Never would have guessed that one
