Fuel Pump, any recalls?
well car is in the driveway with the tank dropped....
and the dealer said nope GM is very specific about the miles..
I think thats sad i drove around leaking gas for two weeks and didn't know it, there was a gas smell but i couldn't find a leak. Just imagine what could of happened...I thought the smell was maybe from my exhaust leak and it was throwing off my air/fuel becase the car was indleing pretty bad also.
I figured it out when I had the car up on the rack at the exhaust shop..
Shame on GM knowing there are defective fuel pumps out there causing gas leaks and putting a number like 120k miles on something as dangerious as that..
Not only that but I asked for any recalls on my car and it wasnt mentioned... then when I said well what about one for the Fuel pump leaking is there one for that.. and he said yes a "special" recall for that, if your leaking.
blah..
It's getting close to new car time.. I think a scooby might be in my future instead of a chevy.

Also, it's not a recall, it is a Special Policy. That means it is an extension of the factory warranty coverage for something that was found to be a somewhat common issue (related to build quality) as the vehicle got older and was outside of the base warranty. I think it's pretty damn nice of GM to extend the coverage of that component for an extra 84,000 miles. Regardless, GM is not being stingy in this case, it's your dealer. If you were in front of me at my dealership (I happen to be a GM Service Adviser) I would take care of it and GM would reimburse my dealership. Over the last few years GM has pushed harder and harder for customer retention. If you call up GM to complain, they may contact the dealership and possibly get the Service Manager to push it through. It is a safety issue...

Sarah, GM Customer Service
At the moment it doesn't cover 06 SS NA's in Ohio (under 80k miles), at least going by VIN.
Have an appointment scheduled for next Thurs (yay $90 to tell me what everyone is already complaining about), so I'll know more then.

Never came back to follow-up sorry about that. $500 in parts and services later I had a new fuel pump.
Anyway, came back in today because of a letter I received in the mail today, seems they're expanding on this recall as Ohio now seems to be covered... good thing they're offering reimbursements! lol.
Guess I'll use the reimbursement to fix another bearing set going out -_-;; ...stupid sand at work not playing well with bearings...
