i'm gonna loose it here.....i cant handle this dam noise any more...i swaped out my SC pully for a 2.9 BilletFlow pulley....than i swaped out the idler pully for a bigger one to make up the slack differance.....and the belt STILL squeeks untill the car is worm...>WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the only reason i can kinda think of is....its squeek has somthing to do with the HUGE amount of belt dressing on the belt and other pullys that i sprayed on before i swaped out the idler pulley....any ideas????...why does it stop once the car gets worm?

 

the spluge is gone from the pulleys at this point. just think warm thoughts you sound like my little nephew, always bitching. how's the tranny coming btw?

P.S Part 2 - Go to a smaller idler pulley and run a 3.1 pulley setup instead w/good year gator belt. Will be a lot better

Mine squeeks also. I only have a 3.15 sooo... My thought is maybe it is because it is an aluminum pulley so once it gets warm it expands ever sooooo and then the squeak goes away ? I would like to see if it squeaks on startup in the warmer months. In other news my car is running like **** and the dealer wont do anything about it until I take my tq brace off. I am buying NGK copper plugs as we speak to get a range colder. Maybe it is engine knock that I am hearing but I doubt it only running a 3.15.

 

BTW If you are at the michigan meet I would like to run you. Just to see if our cars are comparable. With the mods we have done. By then hopefully I will have stg2

This thread is funny. I don't think anyone has an answer for you Bryan. Maybe you overtightend some things. I'd pull it all off and re-examine everything. That's just me though.

 

Belt dressing? Why did you put that on and does it keep the belt wet looking all the time? Belts are rubber and like all rubber once it is warm it softer allowing it to go further into the groves and it gets better traction just like you tires. Did you have any oil on your belts or anything slick? If you did you need to take the belt off and get all oil off and you problem should be fixed.

 

It isn't oil. The guys that made the pulley put it on for me so I know everything went right. Plus I was there. I stand firm in my theory that it is because the pulley is aluminum and the weather has been changing from 20* - 50* every day around here. Thus causing expansion and contraction so once warm it expands and the belt catches the grooves better. THANK YOU BILL NYE !

 

i was spraying my belt with belt dressing becasue it does a good job at stoping squeeks on loose belts but now i know its tight and it still squeeks and nobody on here has an answer!!!!!
this is a first!!!!!!!!!

 

i just cant see the aluminum is exspanding that much its an alloy for strength so it schouldent grow or shrink that much
