Goodwill replacement on Flexpipes
So adding to the long list of issues I've had with my car (08MTSport) I had the flexpipe go on me. Since I've become completely fed up with the dealer I bought my car from, I brought it into the local Midas shop for them to take a look at. They called me back to let me know that, yes, I was right it was the flexpipe, but unfortunately they couldn't fix it because GM had changed flexpipes from the 07 to the 08, and they couldn't get their hands on an aftermarket one.
So, I brought it into another local GM dealer and they told me that while the part was not covered under either the powertrain or pollution control warranties (I'm past the 3/60km bumper to bumper), GM would cover the repair under a "Goodwill" warranty. Apparently they have been having a bunch of issues with this part, and even though they haven't recalled it, they seem to be offering a free fix to anyone who is not covered under warranty. Not sure if this only applies to 08 and newer or not, but might be worth checking out before you go somewhere else to pay for it. Unfortunately the part wasn't in stock, and it will be next week before they get it in, so I'm stuck driving with the windows open in heavy traffic to avoid CO poisoning.

Yes, there is a difference between the 2.2 and 2.4 downpipes. There are a couple of threads a year or so ago in the 2.4 forum with images.
I've got an 08 2.4. The 08's have two cats. (Mine is sitting in the basement.) I installed a LSJ downpipe. It is a great, cheap mod for 2.4's
