ok i have a 07 ss/sc, it has 1200miles onit, the engine hot or cold will sometimes knock at idle and idle only. The noise which is clearly heard sitting at a light(people have checked their own cars to see if they are making the noise), so i bring it by the dealer where the service "consulant" takes my car in and i explain the noise is coming from the timing chain cover area, i also told him i am ASE cert'd, so im not making up some story or an idiot diagnosing a problem for him. he says ok. i pick the car up this afternoon, they claim nothing is wrong, what i am hearing is a little noise from my "TURBO", its the TURBO veins breaking in HAHAHA....i had to literally show him that the car has a roots blower onit, and preceeding that i argued with him that the car has a timing chain not a belt.

where do they find these guys?

My did the same thing, except it was a header gasket............

 

I get a similar noise. Brought it in they said nothing was wrong. GM service is crap

 

talk to the shop foreman, this gets things solved usually. have him hear it and talk cars, show him you know what your talking about. now when i bring my car in its...just tell me whats wrong and its fixed.. no problem with aftermarket parts, nothing. if it comes down to it, fix it yourself. if it breaks...mod it

 

Mine knocks at cold idle. Last night i heard a few knocks after a drive on the parkway when i was sitting at idle. Went away though

 

i can fix it...but i jus bought this car 3 weeks ago so i dont have too lol

 

Chevy warrantys are not worth the paper they put it on.
Makes me want to do something illegal,harmfull,irrational, imature,drastic,mean, stupid,ect
just imagine all the possibilitys 07's with all broken windows ,flat tires,service people in the hospital, is this why poeple go postal.

 

either way i love my cobalt and will beat it til the chian breaks!

 

I had a GM technical assistant tell my chevy mechanic that running over 20lbs of boost on my stg 2 only cobalt was perfectly fine because "turbos build more boost at sea level".

I love chevrolet but dang, this is just rediculous.

They are also trying to blaim my overboosting on my CAI. Tell me how can a hi-flow filter and a chrome pipe add 5lbs of boost??????

 

Nukem on these boards when to have something done to his car at the Saturn dealership. They asked him if he put that blower on himself!

but hearing this about the service people just makes me feel bad...what was the name of the dealer? ill make some phone calls...someone isnt doing their dealer training.
