Hey, I just noticed the other day that my car has some pretty bad hail damage from some recent storms. Its not real noticeable unless you look really closely, bc they are just very small dents, and the paint is still all good. But they are all over the car. Could someone tell me whether they think its worth trying to get insurance to fix (BTW, I have a $500 deductible). Or, what exactly could i buy/do to help. Thanks!!

 

im in the same situation AJ bad storms gave me about 15 small dents between the hood and the roof on my car....im going to wait for 1 more storm to come through and turn it in

 

I had the same problem last year. We got golf ball hail for 40 minutes. Total damage was $5000 x2 (I wasnt satisfied with their first fix and made them do it again) Im not 100% happy with the paint, but they did a good job on the appx 75 dints.

Yea, we've had about 3 or 4 hailstorms this year with dime to nickel sized hail lasting anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes. Unfortunately, some of us aren't blessed enough to have access to a garage for our cars. Would a car cover possibly help protect it during the storms?

 

well im snobird work on cars and with performance parts alot. i want to do body work and i am learing but owning a few busniess and work is hard while trying to learn. There is a few different ways ti fix dents of cours dent pullers are made for bigger dents or dents where you drill a hole and pull. trust me ding king made me laugh as i said glue gun as seen on tv but as i have used it and seeen it works i recomendend it and alot of pro shops use it as well. It is not made for dents larger than 7" i would say anything up to that it will work wonders

 

Go to someone who specializes in Paintless Dent Repair. Ask your Dealer for a reference. These guys can work wonders on dents and even hail damage. A good PDR guy can make your car look new again and preserve the factory paint (no drilling holes).

Nah. Not much you can do if you don't have a garage or carport.

 

OK, well, heres a little update to my hail damage. I found out I have no deductible for hail damage, so thats good. I took it to the body shop,a nd had an estimate. They are going to do PDR on it, but it would involve removing body planels bc of how many and location of the dents. Anyway, the total repair estimate was a little over $2800. Thank GOD for insurance!

 

I'm in the same boat here with the hail. I have to get a PDR quote for what happened about two weeks ago. I have like 4-5 dings on my passenger side rear quarter.

 

I'm glad to see you guys on the PDR boat. I was an auto adjuster for 2 years and I heard nothing but complaints about how they wanted conventional without any justification. I don't know why you'd want to ruin your factory finish and have holes drilled into your car over gently rolling them out with special tools (and yes...some of them even use spoons.) It's definitely the way to have it repaired.

My freind had this done to his car in 2000. Actualy I had 2 freinds that needed there cars fixed after a good hail storm. One with a kia did the PDR and it looks realy good and you still cant see any dents with no problems. They had his car for a day. The other did it the old way and his car looked good but you can tell its been repainted. And on top of that he is now having problems with his roof and hood. (Paint and filler coming off) And they had his car for a week!

I would go PDR my self.

 

Thanks guys for all the encouragement about the PDR. I have to talk to the insurance company today to see if they want to have an adjustor look at it or just accept the body shop's estimate.

 

Another update: the insurance company is sending out an inspector to look at it. Great. Now I suppose I will have to walk him through each and every panel. Anyone got any advice or anyhting they can tell me about what to expect from the inspector?
