Cool Help - Fuel Tank question!

I am a 2007 Cobalt 2.2L automatic sedan (S/C)

now im looking to buy a new fuel tank because the top of mine was punctured a while back which threw a evap code plus "check gas cap" now i had the leaks on top of tank plugged up, but the code still came back on, def am going to need a new tank but from what i looked at on ebay and online it seems theres a few different kinds of tanks>?? correct me if i am wrong, there is ones that say like "FUEL TANK 2.2L FED EMIS OPT NT7 " and like 2 others.....

so how am i suppose to know which one is for my car, are all the 2.2 tanks the same?? any help is appreciated cuz i really wanna order this ASAP.

thank you

There should only be 2 different tanks. One for the California emissions cars and one for the rest of the cobalts. Just get the one that matches your car.

I know there is a size difference because if you look in your owners manual under "capacities and specification" it will show two different fuel capacities. I believe it also lists all the states that have the same emissions standards as california so if you bought your car in massachusetts you should be able to find out. Or if you call the dealership with your vin number they should be able to tell you.

the other tank is without nu6 and is 13 gallons and sold in all other states.

No problem and I would guess you could but I can't tell you for sure. I've never had to mess with the gas tank on my car I just knew that there were two different sizes based on emissions

match up the part numbers on the tank and you will know its correct. Should be stamped into the tank plastic. I think its on the top.
