Question Hood Paint Chipping

Hey everyone,

I'm driving a black '06 Cobalt SS 2.4L. Love it to death. I went to the dealer to talk to the manager about some oil change stuff and parked my car in the service section so he could take a peek. One of their staff noticed I had small paint chips at the very front of my hood and she suggested to get the "bug block protector" ? Im pretty sure thats what she called it, also to get some touch up paint... So my question is, has anyone had this same problem and purchased this blocker (about $80 Canadian). Is it worth it? Any other suggestions?

Thanks

I wouldn't get one of those, if you can afford it get a Xpel paint protector that covers the front of your hood and bumper. Those bud deflectors work but they also wear the paint off on the edge of the hood from my expierences.

Those bug gaurds look dumb.... get that invisible paint protector... 3m makes one I don't know of any others of the top of my head... Clear Film that is applied to the hood and bumpers you can't see it unless your looking for it! WOrks great I had it on my 93 Eclipse for YEARS!

I have a small paint chip right by the edge of the door, i have the touch up paint and its virtually un noticable, chips are bound to happen to any car no matter how hard you try to avoid them....sucks.

I say to hell with the bug/stone guards. My hood is chipped, I have a Ford black touch up stick that works awesome.

I will NEVER use a bra again, I had one on my Sunfire and it destroyed the paint. I had it as tight as it would go, and it still would move when I was driving and wore the paint out. It actually had started to rub off the clear. I highly recommend not using a bra!!

Thats what i use. Got it for my Ranger. Wax right over top of it. Speaking of wax...how does the film hold polish or do you have to polish and then apply the film?
